Is Little Brother's "Speed" one of the GOAT songs by an "underground" group ever?

I loved this entire album and this was a standout. My boy made a beat with this sample around the same time and was tight when he heard this. Same shyt happened with LL's 'Ill Bomb' beat off the David Porter record.

they lowkey fell off after 9th left imo
there's a huge difference in quality between the first two albums and the last two

they had some good ass mixtapes early on too. :ehh:

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I definitely think that Listening, Chitlin Circuit 1 and 1.5, Minstrel Show, and Seperate But Equal are better than the projects after 9th was gone, but the music was still pretty dope.

But the ironic thing is that Getback is the type of album that people said Little Brother should have dropped on Atlantic.

It still had good production, and the lyrics were on point. Any of these songs were all more "radio friendly" than anything on The Minstrel Show

its when the vocal sample comes in around 8-10 seconds you immediately start fukkin with the song.
i used to fall asleep to The Listening all the time and i don't mean that as a slight on the album at all.
"9th always hit me in my sweet spot...Go to the crib, drink some peach schnapps, and dose off to Pete Rock.."

Not a diss at all. It's a relaxing album.

I was listening to Speed a couple of days ago. Little Brother has a great catalog, I didn't like Left Back much because it seemed like a bunch of leftovers but even that had Tigallo For Dolo and a couple other good joints. They were my 00's Tribe.
Leftback was definitely not all new material. Curtain Call, Tigallo for Dolo, and a small handful of others. They even included remixes to some GetBack songs on the album, and not even at the very end either.

I liked these though
Great swan song, and Khrysis flipped the Eye sample from Madvillainy

Classic Tay song and Khrysis beat

Median and Tay going back and forth on this was so dope

Smooth banger

Felt almost more like a Phonte solo joint off a Foreign Exchange project, and the birth of the "New Tigallo" but it was cool

Khrysis did the All About the Benjamins Biggie verse sample dirty, and Phonte ripped those 24 bars

Decent fun vibe song
