Not crazy at all. Really depends on how you grade

Illmatic is only 9 songs. Imo 1 weak song (relative to the others), Halftime

Lost Tapes is 12 songs with 2 weak songs (relative to others), Everybody’s Crazy and Drunk By Myself

So illmatic is the more flawless album, but there may be better, more potent songs on Lost tapes

Also your age and when/how you were exposed to both albums matter. I’m old af and even I was only 12 when Illmatic dropped. So most of my experience with it came after the fact. Whereas Lost Tapes dropped in my musical prime I was like 21. I was able to experience it in real time.

So for me Lost Tapes is the one. If you count it as an album it’s the greatest album of all time in my book

Breh you picking Halftime as illmatic’s weak song? It’s universally accepted to be One Time for your Mind…

Lost Tapes is amazing..but you cant ever say a alvum with no Iconic Nas songs on it is better than one with at least 4 (Illmatic)

Only why IWW can be considered with it is because of the top tier writing is a tad better than Illmatic.

The way y’all treat Illmatic isn’t even annoying anymore, now it’s just funny, 😂. I get it tho, it’s so praised and acclaimed and beloved that you start taking it for granted or getting tired of it, I understand the logic…but yeah, nah, stop.

Illmatic is pretty much way better than every other rap album ever period (Nas albums included) with the exception of a few. Nas has other stellar, arguably classic albums but Illmatic is literally maybe thee absolute best rap album ever made…stop treating it like it’s just some joint.

nikkaz got Illmatic fatigue Nas included I get it but you right. As much as I like his other albums Illmatic is to iconic to be moved. The problem is Illmatic overshadows the rest of his catalog. For years the conversation ''well this album is good but its not Illmatic'' :martin:. One of my uncles still does that bullshyt till this day. I've seen any MC scrutinized the way Nas was for not remaking the same album. Did they that to Snoop (Doggystyle) Jay (RD) neither one has made anything remotely close to their debuts imo.

Other
If Amongst Kings, Find Ya Wealth and Rise and Fall (remastered) were included and we got rid of the 3 weakest tracks then :sas2:

But that didn't happen so no.
