I care what round he was drafted in because that round has never produced anyone besides the 3 mentioned above. Combined with his poor rookie year, it's extremely unlikely he becomes good. Not saying it's impossible just unlikely .

you mean his rookie year where he played like a rookie behind a garbage team that got their starter killed? :heh: what results were you or anyone expecting? 6 games on a god awful team is no way to judge anything.
like i said the desire for microwave results will only get you microwave quality food.

And your definition of "playing like a rookie" is just another way of saying he sucked.

No he played like a fukking rookie. Rookies aren't supposed to come in and dominate. They supposed to be confused, and make mistakes. It's the nature of life for whenever you do something new and especially at a high level.
How dumb are you?

Did Andrew Luck play like a rookie? What does that even mean? He doesn't get a pass for sucking because he was a rookie, and obviously the team agreed.

Are you an LSU fan by any chance?

Three things:

1. In the above link, Mettenberger is slated as boasting extraordinary YPA averages on par with QBs like Wilson, Ryan, Big Ben, Newton, etc. The weakest QB that throws around the same YPA is RG3, who was taken #2. High YPA is correlated with both wins and efficiency. This statistic is a true predictor and strongly supports the notion Mettenberger can be a good starter.

2. Additionally Mettenberger's NY/A last season was on par was higher than QBs like Matt Stafford, Kaepernick and Cutler. If they can play as poor as they did last season and keep their jobs, Mettenberger should have been afforded the same luxury. NY/A is also correlated with wins. This statistic also stands in Mettenberger's favour.

3. Too many sacks and rookie INTs were the main reason Mettenberger's QBR was so low. This doesn't mean Mettenberger is doomed. He only played 6 games. The sample size is too low to give up on him.

Yes luck played like a rookie. Played just like most rookies do. Confused and throwing mad picks. And luck played on a well put together colts teams.
No I went to Alabama.
So let me ask you this if Mariota has the same per game stats as mett then do you draft a QB the next year or get ready to ship him out or do you let him grow?

Luck played a lot better than Mettenberger did and took over a squad that had two wins the year prior. As for Mariotta sucking next year, no probably not as you invested a high pick on him. The Jags are most likely fukked with Bortles but they'll give him at least this year to show something. 6th round picks dont get that type of leash because history shows they most likely wont amount to anything more than a backup. IDK why with Mettenberger ppl think otherwise other than I guess he looks like a prototypical pocket passer :mjpls:

Yes his YPA is good, which is odd because everything else stunk...and that's generally a decent indicator of early promise. There's a chance Mettenberger is good, but more likely than not- he's just a backup. Mariotta could suck too, but with the second pick I see why Tennessee went QB.

:stopitslime: Waste of a pick? But Chip was ready give anything for him.
You wasted that pick

Mariota can't even calls plays in the huddle right now..

He's NEVER done it..
:heh:
Much less take snaps under center

He was perfect for us because we're already running the system he knows

Mettenberger right now is better than him

He won't be ready for 3 years at least and by that time you'll have a new coach who's ready to move on from him

Y'all had the second overall pick and could have gotten a grab bag worth of assets or a beast for the defense

Lol

He played a lot better? Luck played like a rookie as did Mettenberger. everyone knows that Colts team was good it just didn't have Peyton so they tanked. Gave 0 effort most games.
atts per game-Luck:39 Mettenburger:29
completion %- Luck:54% Mettenburger-59%
yds per game-Luck:273 Mettenburger-201
TDs per game-Luck:1.4 Mettenburger-1.3
Ints per game-Luck:1.1 Mettenburger-1.1

But one gets another year while another gets the boot cause he wasn't a top pick. It's awful logic.

:snoop:

Teams draft based on potential. Mariota has a higher ceiling than Mettenberger. Comparing a QB fresh out of college to one that has a year of NFL playing experience is goofy as fukk.
You dont draft a second overall pick at $15 million dollars on "potential." Mariota is gonna start this year

We can use Roethlisberger, Ryan, Cam or Flacco too. There have been plenty of rookie QB's who haven't "played like rookies"
