Ive lived in Maryland for 26 years.

Blue crabs arent even good. Nobody I know cares about them. I only see cacs talking about this.
Old bay seasoning is good. obviously doesnt go in beer.
It is good on wings and especially on crabs/crab legs though.

In some areas you do see the flag a lot. But its mainly because its very unique compared to most state flags.
Maryland is not part of the south and the only time Ive ever heard somebody say this is down in st Marys county, which is at the bottom of the map and full of confederate flags.
Sheetz is better than Wawa, but I dont care either way. Its gas station food.

DC used to be hood before gentrification happened and a lot of people flooded Montgomery and Prince Georges County in Maryland.
Now Southeast DC has parts filled with cacs.
The Navy Yard is unrecognizable compared to recent years. I remember cacs used to be scared as shyt taking the Green Line on Metro to get to the Nationals games. Fathers standing in front of their kids with their hands in their pockets pretending to have a gun or knife.

Virginia used to be a larger version of Mississippi before federal jobs and growth came to Northern Virginia and changed the state. They are Democratic now and incomes and cost of living is rising.

So for a long time Maryland did have a very different identity than its next door neighbors.
Thats basically over now though.

You might need to expand your circle breh or move to a different part of the state because a whole rack of nikkas stay eating blue crabs including myself. They ain’t exactly filling but it ain’t nothing like a bushel of 20 to 30+ blue crabs freshly caught and coated in Old Bay and bought either from The Wharf, a crab truck parked off road, or directly from the crab trappers themselves and then bring them bammas home, steam them up, and enjoy some cold beers with them and some homemade crab dip

Bonus if you enjoying it with company and out either on the deck, porch, or backyard under the hot Sun with music playing from the speakers and just vibin. Can’t wait for the summer

And culturally no one I know in the area thinks maryland is part of the south.

I swear I only hear this over in the Eastern Shore or parts of Southern MD.

I see the Republic of California flag on t-shirts and other items and TX also. But yeah MD does go hard with the flag.

You won’t often see MD apparel outside the state but when you come here, you’ll definitely get bombarded by it especially in some of the beach towns with shops and boardwalk shopping.

nikkas from PG ain't proud to be from "Maryland". We're the reason the "DMV" term even exists because DC nikkas sure don't like to claim us. The only part of PG that's on that Maryland pride shyt is College Park because the flagship state institution is there. The urban areas of Maryland don't recognize any state pride. Baltimore nikkas claim their city and that's it (and even within that some of them only claim East or West). PG nikkas claim their hood (Seat Pleasant, Kentland, 520, largo rd, homer ave, etc) or lie and say they from DC or just say "DMV"

That Maryland pride shyt is mostly Baltimore County, Howard, Arundel, Annapolis, Eastern Shore, West and Southern Maryland.

Baltimore City is just Baltimore. And PG and Moco lean towards claiming DC more so than "Maryland". Although PG is starting to develop its own pride.

For as small as a state Maryland is, it's very different depending where you are.

What’s funny is that it was a native DC nikka who even coined the term DMV back in the early 2000’s But you always see DC nikkas running they mouth thinking it was a Murrland nikka, or “Meezy” as they like to call us, that created the term when it was literally one of their own, dude was a radio personality or DJ too lmaooooo

Also, I visited UMD’s College Park campus today for the first time in years and actually explored it. shyt’s the most beautiful campus I’ve ever step foot on, I can see why that shyt definitely is the pride of the state

You won’t catch nikkas rocking a crab on there car if then from Baltimore. Our license plates are different from PG and adjacent counties license plates. Only time I seen that corny ass crab decal sticker on a car from Maryland they had DC or PG plates not Baltimore plates. I’m don’t got no beef with you PG or DC nikkas I’m past all that just saying what’s real.

How you even know the license plates is from PG or Bmore when it’s the same state plate breh? And the only ppl who be doing that crab decal shyt down here is Cacs or nikkas who ain’t even from around here and are either transplants or students (most likely the latter).
