Just playing devil's advocate. I'm basically 50/50 on the whole notion. Kevin Hart can rep 225 on the bench.

You went from 95 lb to a 300 lb Max in a year? Assuming you literally mean 235 for reps on working sets.

:patrice:
Barring injury, you can easily get to 235 starting from the empty bar running the stronglift 5X5 program in less than 9 months

You talking to a group of lazy mfers here who don't even want to work a regular job because they claim it'll hurt their body. And you're trying to explain a workout regimen that's have their muscles burning??

Idk, breh. That suspiciously close to saying somebody who's a total beginner can get to a 315 bench in a year.

Maybe a tall and heavy big boned type, but the average guy? I don't see it.

If somebody can do a full 5x5 in a single session with 235, their amrap is going to be putting them somewhere very close to 315.

I might've misread that particular post but instead of me saying what I think he meant maybe he should come back in and explain his rep scheme. I do see what you're saying though.

Depends on the group you workout with.. If your group push your for 3 months, you'll definitely see results. The results is what get you addicted. How far you go depends on the individual.

In my opinion, for the average guy who is committed to getting stronger and everything that comes with that, I would say a 225 (maybe for a few reps at a high rpe) bench is about as good as it's going to get your first year. It was for me.

Probably another 1.5 to 2 years to get to that mythical 315 bench assuming you're programming correctly. You'll plateau into oblivion trying to do 5x5 forever.

That's the thing....bulking up means gaining muscle AND fat. Getting heavier while getting more ripped just doesn't happen for most folks without going through multiple bulk/cut cycles.

It's mostly diet/genetics/exercise for him but he probably used a little something to get the right look. The natty brehs built like that almost always have that look early like a Tyreek Hill type breh.

MBJ is a hard gainer. Probably not a big eater so he has to work hard to put on mass and drink/eat all kinds of shyt.

Compare that to The Rock who also is on "stuff" but he'd be a heavyweight just off genetics. The drugs just make him more cut.

Yeah when I think of people with elite genetics I think of the Tyreek hills of the world. The NFL is full of them. I still maintain that Mike Tyson is the biggest genetic freak of my lifetime.

Maybe i shouldn't have said "easily". But with the right amount of food, sleep, and consistency, 235 for reps in 9 months is very possible. Assuming no plateaus/deloading it would be done in a little over 6 months. But i added the 3 months for plateaus. Now the road to 315 might not be as linear since you will probably hit harder plateaus before and will have to deload along the way.

Again maybe easy wasn't the right word but it's definitely doable, especially in your 20s.

You're saying your workout buddies is what determines how fast you're going to get strong?

Maybe to an extent but, it's largely based on your genetics.

Two guys doing the exact same thing can see very different growth rates

If a person is putting on muscle that fast they have had help.

It's an open secret in Hollywood that actors take PED for their roles. They're starving and dehydrating before the scenes are shot.

Agreed 100%. I assumed he might've meant 235 max which is good. If he's talking 5 sets of 5 reps at 235 then he's full of shyt lol.

Lol, for sure if someone is lazy, they probably won't get there even if given 5 years

I think you can find people on YouTube who documented their weightlifting using either "Stronglift 5X5 "or "Starting Strength" and who manage to get to those numbers in way less time.

If this is understood, then this thread is pointless and just a avenue for people to hate. :mjpls:

"Way less time" you say?

Either they're using (pointless as a total beginner), they're genetic freaks, or they're naturally big bodied.

But I got to see it to believe it. Got any links?
