They played in diff eras. Same reason I have Jordan over Kareem. On paper Kareem has more accolades than Jordan, but I'd easily choose Jordan.

Same reason I choose tger over jack.

Also ppl up underestimate tigers excellence. In no other sport are you consistently playing against an entire field. Ppl under estimate what that means. Tiger was doing that against the elites of the world, and crushing them on an unparalleled level for an unprecedented time.

His feats in golf are straight up ridiculous.

Beating a team in a championship is nice, but beating a field of hundreds of golfers consistently is straight up ridiculous

The reason why I put Jack over Tiger is not only does Jack have more majors with 18, but he also came in second 19 times as well as 9 third place finishes. That shyt is crazy.

I also compare the field they're playing against. Jack's competition fielded more HOF players compared to Tiger. Jack had to play against Watson, Trevino, Palmer, Player, all of whom have won more majors than Mickelson, who was Tiger's main competitor when he was winning all those majors. This really isn't Tiger's fault though so I can't really hold that against him, but it does add more weight to Jack's accomplishment

However, if Tiger can surpass Jack in major wins vs the field now, he should be considered GOAT. I think the field now is a lot stronger than when Tiger was winning all those majors so it will be more difficult, but also more impressive.

You're right about golf. To dominate the field is ridiculous the way Jack and Tiger have done. The game is fickle as hell.

I work with plenty of white guys who follow hockey and played hockey in college or high school, young and old, and none of them consider gretzky the goat. He is the GOAT to casual fans like the posters posting in here who know nothing about hockey. He is the goat hockey player to someone like me. SI, sport magazine, espn sports century 100, no reputable sports medium ever puts gretzky in the top 3-5 athletes, never mind number 1

I don't really fukk with hockey but Gretzky's domination of his sport is mind-boggling. Think about this, no player in NHL history has ever had a 200 points season...but this dude did it four times and nearly a fifth.
