all of you all saying u dont tip are just proving my point. :russ: nikkas man ill tell ya.

lol at the ignorance in this thread. wow. but like i said in my first post yall no tippin niccas actually ruin it for the rest of us. the black people who actually go out to eat and dont think they are better then the person that is serving them.. i dont know about you all but i eat out A LOT. and most at the time its at pretty nice restaurants. im sick of being looked at like my black ass is not going to tip.

somebody had a very good point up above. go to the same restaurant every week for a month and tip good each time and watch how much the staff takes care of u. if i know i have a big tip coming im doing EXTRA to make sure there happy. this includes getting your food out faster, hooking up up with free food/more food. strong drinks, etc.

now let me know i have a bad tip coming to me and watch how quickly all that changes. who the hell would go out of their way for someone for a dollar or no tip at all!?!? ha would you? you cant complain about bad service and say you dont believe in tipping in the same sentence!! nicca the shyt goes hand in hand.

and to people saying i should find another job or attack my ownership for only paying me $2.13 an hour i actually am happy with my job. i put up with a lot of bullshyt and of course no matter what there will always be shytty tippers out there. i know i will never be able to change that. but overall i make about 750-1k a week doing what im doing which is perfect for my lifestyle. are people angry that i said black people dont tip? (which is damn near being proven in this thread) or that they think i shouldnt be complaining about low tips in general?
So how many big tips do I have to leave before I can enter a restaurant cold and be served without prejudice?

I'll never understand why dudes go out to eat and tip like shyt... save the whole "b-bu-but tipping is just a bonus and it shouldn't be expected" shyt... the way the restaurant industry is structured, a tip of less than 15% is unacceptable... the reason tipping exists is because it helps keep the cost of doing business down for the owner, which in turn allows them to keep the price of food down, ultimately benefitting the consumer

If there was no such thing as tipping, they'd have to pay servers a minimum of $15 an hour. Well, where do you think that money is gonna get made up? That $10 big ass plate of nachos would be $17. That coke would be $4.

I was a server in college and it was a great experience. Like dude said, most servers don't even get a paycheck because of taxes. I'd get a check for like $67 every 2 weeks and be happy as hell that I actually got a paycheck that time around.

So basically tips are the only way for servers to make money. Now when you tip $3 on $60, you're thinking "I just gave this server $3 for an hour of their time." Well, that's not the case. At all the restaurants I ever worked at, we had to tip out the bussers 5% of our sales for cleaning off the tables, taking the dirty plates to the back, rolling silverware, etc. We also had to tip out the bar 5% of our bar sales for making/pouring the beers, pina coladas, etc.

So in all likelihood, that $3 that you tipped wouldn't even cover what the server had to tip out for serving you in the first place, meaning THEY ACTUALLY PAID MONEY TO BE AT YOUR SERVICE FOR AN HOUR.

"But maybe they should just go and get a better job"... nah, maybe your broke, cheap ass should just get with the times and realize tipping is an unspoken requirement rather than being on some "fukk that, I'm challenging the status quo" and getting your food spit in next time around

Yeah, you're doing a crummy job of convincing me to change my tipping habits. In fact, my stance feels even more righteous after reading your horsesh!t.

Again:

For the one-millionth fcking time, why are people like you so aggressive when it comes to attacking customers for not compensating you appropriately for your "services", yet you give your employers who are actually responsible by law for your compensation, and are in direct financial benefit from it yet pay you jack sht, a complete pass? Dont you recognize a flaw in your thinking here?

I tip well, but the bolded needs to be addressed

You could have just stopped here, and spared us the rest of your post because this is the ultimate point here --- enlarging profits for ownership.

What you are suggesting makes little sense. Keeping the "cost of food down" is a meaningless concept, if you are still asking consumers to pay extra though tipping. Customers are subsidizing the wages of workers to the benefit of ownership. Funny how all these accepted "structures" benefit the top exclusively.

I think the states should adopt a more Eastern Europe approach to tipping. Don't tip, just include it in the meal prices.

Increase the cost of food prices so it allows to pay staff wages above minimum wage.

So the cost of a gourmet burger meal becomes $30 instead of $17-$20

That's the point. With the way the service industry is structured, you'd typically buy that entree for $30 and tip $6. So most people get to thinking "well fukk this server, imagine if I didn't have to tip that $6, I would have only had to spend $30." When the reality is, if the tipping system was abolished, restaurant owners would see their operating costs go up because they'd have to start paying employees more, so the price of that same entree would be bumped up to $36 to make up the difference. So it's the same shyt.

Show me a restaurant owner who would say "well, I know I gotta pay all these employees at least $10 more per hour now, but don't worry, beers are still $2 and burgers are still $6."

So you're gonna pay for it one way or the other, if anything this way benefits the server more because they typically don't declare all of their cash tips and thus less are taken out this way than if they just solely received a paycheck every two weeks.

So yea, the tipping system IN A RESTAURANT benefits the owner of said restaurant. Shocker. shyt is a business, not a charity. If you don't want to pay the price of having a meal brought to you, not having to cook it and do the dishes, etc. then just stay home. No one is forcing anyone to go out to eat.

Well since we want to get all bold and start throwing around the word "charity", how about this: customers are responsible for the meal itself --- whatever they provide extra is because of his or her personal graciousness, and you should be happy for whatever is provided from them. If you dont like that, change the "structure" or get a better job, since you are clearly unwilling to challenge management in any way.

IF YOU DONT HAVE MONEY FOR A DECENT TIP, DONT GO OUT TO EAT!

your just making yourself look fukkin stupid. like who goes out to a fine dining restaurant drops $200 on a meal and cant afford to throw more than $5 on a tip. do you realize how fukkkin ignorant that makes you look?

man shut the fukk up. I pay tips when I feel like it.

The cacs have their prejudices anyway when a black man comes through.

Do you tip your barber or do you tell him to go ask the barber shop owner for a raise?

Service industry was great to me. I was 19 years old making >$40K untaxed. Despite what you cheap ass dudes may tend to believe, there's not THAT many of you out there in terms of percentages. You stingy weirdos are in the minority. So servers still make solid money because most people are aware of what comes along with going out to eat. Do you though, just don't be shocked when you see a booger chillin in that iced tea the server just brought you.

Nothing wrong with not tipping for poor or sub-standard service.

People who don't tip just because they want to be a$$holes are scumbags though. These are usually the same people who beg for government handouts.

Show some examples....

I ain't doing shyt nikka. These tipping threads constantly do high ass numbers, yet there are a bunch of threads highlighting a bunch of fukked up shyt here that do 1 to 2 pages, it ain't hard to find an example so look for yourself. Or don't and keep responding to me nikka :heh:.
