Finessed naw, but I don't understand why Africans who live in America and who are never moving back home agree to this.
A friend of mine just paid a 20k+ dowry and had a whole ceremony back home ......after already being married in america for a decade
He was telling me if he doesn't do this he won't have any say in important matters in the family back home. I'm like so what? The same nikkas begging you for money and boxes of avon products won't let you decide who gets married in some dusty village you don't even live in...so
it's kind of crazy how much social pressure and clout controls ppl lives

Yeah, I was gonna say from what I've always heard the Bride's Fam is supposed to pay the Dowry. That's why

- people preferred to have sons back in the day
- typically the Bride's Fam pays for the wedding traditionally

I’m getting married next year and got a beautiful woman ain’t nothing to be mad about. I just care about my homie man like I feel like they didn’t have enough time to focus on there relationship and building it and and it’s being built through a wedding which adds whole another level of stress if you haven’t built trust with a partner like that and it seems like they fight a lot.

He likes crazy ass chicks he got married two years ago to a chick in Africa but once Covid happen it fukked the relationship up. nikka bought two cows and shyt for the family too and she had a kid.
