Back?

:heh:

I dunno... I might be a lil' too old to classify that as "being back"... cause when NY was the shyt, they had stars from each borough and a VERY healthy and competitive frontline of artists.

Right now, NY has the same two nikkas that have been at the forefront for the last 15 years, a chick whose career was poppin' but could go one way or the other right now, a couple others who've been around forever but never quite got that #1 spot, and a bunch of new dudes who the average person don't know jackshyt about.

I don't know if that counts as being "back". :scusthov:

Honestly though, Nas and Jigga are still dropping heat that practically NOBODY in Hip Hop is fukking with except for other Vets. It's not just a New York thing with those two. Their icons

I know, but it's a shame when they're the only relevant ones in the city and everyone is a c list rapper or worse, Outkast is legends and we still seen successful cats still come after them in Atl, Jezzy, T.I., and Ludacris for example. They do have nice young talent in Joey Badass, ASAP, Harry Fraud, and a few others, but it's not enough, not to mention NY has an elitist attitude which also holds them back.

it's a dam insult to compare these average/below average rappers to Dom, Kdot or Nip. They don't have anywhere near the talent and musical ability of the 3 cats I mentioned.

7 years ago :what:? Wasnt 50 cent completley running the hip hop game at that time :what: ?

Not really.. Lil Wayne, Jeezy and T.I. were and people were complaining about how snap music was ruining the culture...

50 had already peaked by 2006 and was on the decline...

And even if 50 is the example you want to use..Someone who claimed "I'm a New Yorker but I sound Soooouthern" is actually proving my point...
