Coming back but not there yet. Problem is that NY doesn't have an up and coming or new artist everyone is backing right now. The underground scene is dope, but guys like Esquire as too polarizing to ever truly be embraced by the entire city.
IMO NY needs someone to come up like Kendrick, Cole, etc have - dope music, marketable face (pause), and the ability to craft songs beyond just dope verses with little structure. Bronson, Joey Badass, Esquire, Maffew, etc all got bars but the question is whether they can craft anthems without compromising who they are.
Sadly I have a feeling some label got a wack light skinned NY nikka brewing in their offices, creating some industry plant they'll unleash on us next year.
