So Cal
At no point in the 1990s was E-40 considered more historically important for hip hop than Rakim or KRS One.
To suggest so is, literally, one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen typed here. No disrespect. :Peasy:
I'm saying the 90s is when rakim got left behind. Outside of the truth hurts song he has 0 impact in the 00s. Stop dap fishing.

So at what point did E-40 surpass KRS and Rakim in historical importance then?

@G.O.A.T Squad Spokesman feel free to jump in with an answer here.
You want me to give you a year or a time period? I'll give you a time period. I'd say around the time E-40 got his second wind and dropped the "My ghetto report card' album.

That album introduced him to another generation and he's stayed current ever since.

I don't think you understand how hard it is to be relevant in one region for over 20 years let alone be relevant nationally for 25 years.

If it was easy the legends you look up to would do it if they really love the artform.

Rakim Mayers was born on October 3, 1988, in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City.
Mayers' first name was taken from the hip hop artist Rakim, one half of the Eric B. & Rakim duo.

So Tell Me When to Go, U & Dat, Snap Your Fingers, Choices and this new song with Quavo catapulted E-40 over Rakim and KRS? Did I forget any hits?

You think E-40's second wind, and the songs I've listed, are historically important for hip hop?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad 40 had success, but nothing he's done since that second wind is going to matter, whatsoever, for hip hop history.

Overall, 40 is a hip hop legend and a top three figure for Bay Area rap.

All I see is u juelzing while ignoring the other stuff I posted. :sas2:

You posted a movie that takes place in the 80s, somebody who was born in the 80s, show created by somebody who is:flabbynsick: and a Sprite campaign that is supposed to be "legends", which we acknowledge he is.

You said no impact in the 00's. That movie came out in 2002...Not the 80's. Matter fact....this next generation acknowledges Alpo and Rich because of that specific movie. Stop it.

The 00s. And to kids born in the 90s and 00s, 40 is just another rapper in a long list of rappers more important than them. :yeshrug:
Young kids who haven't done their homework don't get to decide hip hop history.
Just because you weren't alive or cognizant for event doesn't mean they didn't happen and it doesn't lessen their historical significance.
That's not how history works. That's not how all-time lists work.

That's how everything works whether you want to admit it or not.
