Yes. Classic. Better performance wise than Muddy Waters, just not as accessible. Just like All We Got Iz Us by Onyx. These albums were for the heads, not the masses.
i was sayin' "really" in reference to you sayin' you never see muddy waters gettin' mentioned when with me it's the opposite. most people i know always reference that album as their favrorite and redman's best
oh i remember clearly
big had puffy to help smooth out his image and all. puff played a major role in big's image and sellin' him in a more commercial way. for example, "the one more chance" remix helped in a major way. biggie would've been a lot like redman (respected among his peers but strictly a gold record sellin' artist) had he not had puff's help with smoothin' his music and image out
redman ain't been one to make his image anythin' other just bein' a street brother with a sense of humor from jersey. raw, grimy and funny street rhymes is his lane
it was just always understand that nas was just great. nas is really unlike any other mc. like he won't never really the club makin' type brother although he's tried years later a couple of times but that's not his lane. with illmatic, nas was just like this young but wise street brother who was in the hood but had this way of already lookin' from the outside at things. nas was and is ahead of his time
Puffy ironing out Biggie's raw street image came much later with Juicy and Big Poppa..long before then, people had already caught wind of Biggie via Party n Bullshyt and they had already started asking questions and looking out for him, I know I was..I think hardcore Biggie and soft Biggie you couldnt deny either one, and you had to take notice, he was that good. Puffy got him to the masses quicker, but I think the masses would have taken to Biggie regardless. He had the ability to serve both markets well, I wouldnt give Puffy credut for that.
Nas was heralded as the 2nd coming of Ra, so already had hype. Red on the other hand I wonder, cause the goofball antics may have eroded how people that wanted to take him seriously now couldnt.

Favorite Redman album.

Love Doc's Da Name. It was the first Redman solo album I had. Red was my favorite rapper based on that El Nino, Blackout and Docs Da Name run. I didn't hear his earlier albums until after those...i maybe the only one who likes whut thee album the best. muddy use to be my favorite but over the years it's taken second place to whut
dare comes in third place
am i the only redman fan who thinks doc's da name was actually a great album? people sleep on that album some kinda heavy. but red's rhymes were still intact and erick sermon produced like 11 tracks on that muthafukka
red didn't fall off till malpractice imo![]()

When you find him then I try him, fry him like the grill
At Benihana's til he prove how to be an MC C C"
