Rep system was always flawed and trash, rep boosting common, once you're in the red you can't rep back so you get piled on.

There was never really a reason to have rep after the dap was implemented. 
Maybe, a way to counter that is to maybe make it a 0 and above system? So no one can be given a scarlet level of infinite red but you still get an incentive for quality post and a way to know the quality posters based on their rep.
Its not as painful to be 0 compared to -10000
that might actually work. But then it's no point if a poster is at zero. How about this. Rep for positive posters counts as 20. If you're in the red, you can rep but it counts as 10. That way everyone can use it and not be left out and the positive posters don't feel like they have same rep value compared to someone deep in red. Everybody wins.
