Is Rick Ross’ lyrical peak comparable to or even BETTER than Prodigy’s peak?

He did that when 0 of them were in their prime.

Ross is graded on a curve because "Port Of Miami" came out around the same time as "Laffy Taffy". Nobody was really rapping like that at the time....whereas half the rap game was doing that (both skill-wise, and stylistically) during the 90's. So he wouldn't stand out, at all.

Fred.

Port of miami was obviously ross dumbing it down dude was going bar 4 bar with face & pusha t in the early 2000s

And you cant tell me this verse wouldn't hold up in any era with any version of kool g

Ross always brings the best out of nas & everybody else i mention is still in peak form including nas

Nas never had nothing but outstanding verses with Ross he never got close to getting bodied with him. Jay-z and Ross songs are great but there wasn't no competition just great songs.

I’m trained to listen to who came harder when heavyweights collab.. that’s just my era.. my nature

Ross brings his A game when he’s on records with A class MCs

It’s always competitive.. don’t get it twisted

Especially when Hov is involved

Everywhere...You never there.
Prodigy’s sample size from the period he wa s at his peak is sort of small in retrospect.. p was at his apex lyrically from 95-97

P was just as nice as anyone on the mic during that period

Ross got in his bag in 2008.. I’d say from 2008 to 2012 GFID. Ross was spitting flames but I don’t think he was spitting at the level P did between 95-97

As a solo artist Ross would probably edge him out given his discography but Mobb Deep as a group > Ross as a solo artist

Just my .2

I love both. Good luck getting anyone to really engage and explain their stances though. Dialogue has become a thing of the past here lol.

Real reply and on point :salute:

I’ll say this, in Ross’ window between 08-12 he ate some legends up (who were in the second phase of their careers)

It’s like the young A.I. Crossing MJ and hitting the shot in 97...

Ross gave Nas & Hov some burn respectively (triple beam dreams, free mason)

Rae & Ghost a few times

I could go on but the artists were in the second phase of their careers (not their lyrical primes).

That has to be taken into consideration.

Put niccas on a plate and tucked in his napkin :wow:

Only thing I will give Ross is that his peak lasted longer and he has the goat ear for beats .
But prime prodigy on the 2 - 3 Rd mobb tapes was not to be fukked with .

I’d stretch that out through 99. I always say 95-99. When Quiet Storm dropped it seemed as though he had somehow managed to get even better. And the joints that were recorded before Murda Muzik got bootlegged we’re still Prime P. Adrenaline. Allustrious. Streets Raised Me. The Realist.

There was a noticeable difference with the verses recorded Post bootlegging with the exception of Its Mine.

Don’t forget about all the crazy guest spots from 95 through 99. Then even in 2000-2001 we were still getting leftover Prime P.
The Saga. Self Conscience. Rock With Us with Busta. Thunn and Kicko with Mega.

I would put ross even with rea, ghost pun, p, az, jada & styles actually :ld:

Aint no way any emcee can do what he has done over the last 8 yrs & not be seen as 1 of the greats lyrically & discography

Ross has went bar 4 bar with (even got the best of on a few) kool g, face, jada, nas, jay, wayne, rae, ghost & styles

And has a better discography than alot of you'll favorite emcees
Does he have an album that would even crack the top 50? Be honest with yourself.
