The woman in the song didn't say it.

But to your point, NWA is literally that spearheaded the use of that term in Black music. Prior to NWA, you won't find it in Black music outside of Bob Marley in "Get up Stand up" when he says: "Don't be a n*gger in your neighborhood"

Bob Marley wasn’t played in the states till he died so that’s neither where nor there…

It’s always been the way black people spoke for as long back as anyone chooses to trace. It’s a personal choice

If this is the case, then why don't we see it in Black arts until the late 80s?

The Isleys have been around for 60 years. They have done so by adapting to the latest sounds while keeping their unique style.

But I'm not feeling this new stuff. Bring back Chris Jasper
real talk like the young folks say, i don't know jasper but he probably wouldn't go for that

This is straight up shameful.

This wicked ass culture got our elders calling themselves n*ggers.
To be fair....we had a thing called Dirty Blues.

Old school folks from the 1930's would make Cardi B/City sound like a nursery rhyme:

Yeah I'm familiar with this. Were the artists of this era referring to themselves with anti-Black terms?

I'd have to see tbh.

They ALWAYS bring these two songs.
There are a lot more....not just her but Bessie Smith and multiple bands. These songs wouldn't get airplay NOW and damn sure weren't in the 30s and 40s.

Point is...folks act like old people being wild is something new. Our grandparents and great grandparents didn't wait on a stork to deliver babies.

What some of us say is that the airwaves are more polluted now than ever. We are not claiming that the elders were all saints.
