Is Silkk The Shocker the most trash rapper that was remotely successful?

you get it.

as for the 2nd part tho, youre talking as if silkk was just some hanger-on. he was the 2nd or 3rd biggest star on that whole label. dudes who were far less valuable to their crew are treated like kings on this site.

Silkk wasn't a hanger on, but its like giving him credit for something P was already credited with. No Limit's run started with "Bout It II", which was P and Mia. Then TRU's TRU 2 Da Game really pushed them in the mainstream and Ghetto D is when they started to dominate. Silkk was a huge part of those albums,, but P was the forefront. Few crews had a 2nd or 3rd biggest star. I can't think of another crew in Hip Hop that had three members who went platinum more than once. G-Unit had Banks, and similarly he was the ladies man of G -Unit, but only had one album that was successful. Meanwhile, Silkk had Charge It 2 Da Game and Made Man.

Kids discovering Silkk The Shocker:

^^^ Mya's "Movin On" was one of those songs that showcased what Silkk actually was in the late 90's. People didn't look at him as wack and I remember his verse being liked. I even remember when the song premiered here and Chris Lova (Ludacris) and Poon were diggin Silkk's verse on the song.

That TRU album doesn't get talked about alot, that TRU album killed the underground market. That album was played at every black southern event that was happening in real time.

I remember that timeframe when that album dropped, it wasn't heavy advertised but it was displayed enough to know that it was out.

His videos wasn't hitting BET yet, I remember THE BOX playing it heavy....

That was album is a pivot moment in NL that does not get talked about....It was like it came outta nowhere just because it wasn't heavy broadcasted as such.

It was crazy because Destiny's Child sampled that song twice. There was "With Me" which featured Master P and the remix with Jermaine Dupri. The version with P was just the original beat and they just sang on it. JD pretty much made it sound like a So So Def remix on the remixed version. Then Future remade it a couple of years ago.

IMO, TRU 2 Da Game is only 2nd to Ghetto D as the biggest, most important album during that whole No Limit run.

I was talking to my family about this album TRU and we talked about the impact that it had (in real time) when it came out.

It came out at the top of the year 97, and I heard that album all the way up until the Bayou Classic and that event is in November. That week of Thanksgiving, man that album was in every pioneer stereo at the time

That double album (to me) showed me that P could put together a solid project on his own, it was well structured, the right features, the production was on point, the solo songs by the members of TRU.

It's an album folks don't put in their Top 5 or Top 10, and I am not sure why

That album broke NL, broke NL to where all eyes were on them in my opinion. Like folks really started to take them serious serious.

When brehs at school, I know at mines were at lunch arguing about what song was the best lol. shyt was that serious.

You ever listened to Mia X's lyrics to that song lol

She would have gotten canceled if she was to rap about that today.

She was slipping micky's in nikkas' throats back then

TRU had one dope album though.

Of course being Master Ps brother at that time could make anyone a gold selling rapper with some weeks of practice. Movement was too strong. I always felt that he tried his best to do E40 style and failed extremely badly

TRU had more than one dope album, and they were droppin doubles.

silkk didnt just go gold. he was multi-platinum and one of the biggest stars of the late '90s.
