You don't get it. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A GREAT RAPPER TO MAKE GREAT RAP MUSIC. You could barely call Lil Jon & Eastside Boyz rappers, and they put out great crunk hype music. In their own lane. Three 6 Mafia and their posses had a couple of great rappers (Scarecrow, T-Rock, Skinny Pimp, Fly), the rest were ok to subpar, put out CLASSIC albums n songs, brilliant shyt. It just fit. That's art

No you don't get it actually. An instrumental is a producer's work. If Silkk is rapping like two people trying to talk over each other and he doesn't make beats...then what is he doing exactly?

DJ Paul and Juicy J are some of the greatest producer/rapper combos you would ever hear. They make great quality beats and they flow on the track great enough. Even Lil Jon sounds better on the track than Silkk and Jon is primarly a producer.

Silkk has never rapped good and never made dope beats. You can't say he's making great rap music, that credit goes to other people surrounding him who made beats and dropped good verses.

Silk's style was something new, many in real time accepted it.

Biting back then was frown upon, it's highly accepted now.

You had to separate yourself from the others back in 95-99.

Was he nice on the mic, in real time, at times no, but to say that he was trash in real time, never was said by nobody in the real time.

In 2021, shyt nikkas call P trash, but in real time, shyt wasn't said.

All I remembered was nikkas bumping the hell out of The Shocker and Charge it

Silkk is nowhere near Jeezy or Juelz or Three 6 Mafia. And I don't listen to the backpack rappity shyt. I don't see what's so appealing about Silkk. He can't rap, point blank. I've enjoyed Mystikal's every No Limit album and his later albums. That's the real No Limit talent who made hype exciting music.

I legitimately paid for his first two albums and I was a fan as a kid. I’m not saying he didn’t contribute to the game and wasn’t hot at the time. But as you grew up, did you really not go back and listen to his flow and realize how bad it was?

His flow took some getting used to, but the things he had against him were also what made him instantly recognizable

No way he was trash, especially compared to that new wave of overemptional trap and drill rappers

That was his flow and THAT is why he became successful.

Silk had a legitimate mainstream career. I thought the thread was to name someone worse than silk with a legit rap career

Back then you had to achieve something to be famous

Now you need an instagram account, terrible fashion sense and a whore for a girlfriend and you’re famous

So “legit rap career” is pretty key. Silkk by any standard was a rap superstar, these new dudes are IG and YouTube famous at best
