I was in college during the early 2010s and wasn’t on social media at all. But when I see tweets from 09-13, the amount of dark skinned/black women jokes I see in the Twitter archives are

nikkas were c00ning hard back then. Even when I lurked on SOHH/TheColi… calling black women out of their name went relatively unchecked.

I feel like the backlash we get now is payback for that period. What say you?

I’m somewhat on the fence with that. If a CAC in prominent position was spewing some hard ER N-word rants, I’d definitely want them out of the paint, even if it was ten years ago.

That being said, Once you open up the floodgates, everyone has to be held accountable. It’s a tough one. There should be nuance between being goofy online and being malicious.

I agree but imagine if I made an ignorant joke 15 yrs ago about parts of India I would never go to, fast forward to now I post about taking a vacation to India,

it's only a matter of time before that summer jam screen come sup saying "this you?" Now I gotta quickly apologize to the indian community and make donations to keep my high profile job
