Is social media’s anti(straight)black man phase payback due to níggas cōoning circa 2010?

I was in college during the early 2010s and wasn’t on social media at all. But when I see tweets from 09-13, the amount of dark skinned/black women jokes I see in the Twitter archives are :picard:

nikkas were c00ning hard back then. Even when I lurked on SOHH/TheColi… calling black women out of their name went relatively unchecked.

I feel like the backlash we get now is payback for that period. What say you?:yeshrug:

A lot of people were wild on Twitter back then because people didn't take the internet that serious

It was a digital playground to say anything random because who's gonna check u?

Now it's an accountability platform where people lose their jobs every month

I never said anything like that though.

I’m somewhat on the fence with that. If a CAC in prominent position was spewing some hard ER N-word rants, I’d definitely want them out of the paint, even if it was ten years ago.

That being said, Once you open up the floodgates, everyone has to be held accountable. It’s a tough one. There should be nuance between being goofy online and being malicious.

I agree but imagine if I made an ignorant joke 15 yrs ago about parts of India I would never go to, fast forward to now I post about taking a vacation to India,

it's only a matter of time before that summer jam screen come sup saying "this you?" Now I gotta quickly apologize to the indian community and make donations to keep my high profile job

Everyone should just scrub their social media to be honest. I’m glad Twitter wasn’t around during 9/11. :whew:

I just have a LinkedIn and keep it pushing.

Thank god

Anyway back to the matter at hand, the cis-straight-mono-sexual-binary-self identifying black man will always have to be on guard

If he's good at getting black women constantly, he's a player or misogynist or fukkboi trying to make up for something
If he doesn't date black women, he hates his momma or is blindfolded by society aka "Get Out"
If he keeps his relationships on the low, he's clearly gay
If he argues or talks back, he's toxic masculinity
If he takes care of himself and prides on taking pics of himself, he's bytch made
If he doesn't care about appearance, he's a caveman
If he stays home all the time, he's a recluse lame
If he goes out all the time, he's a fukboi who doesn't want to grow up
If he commits too soon, he's thirsty
If he's nonchalant, he's a coward who's afraid of commitment

TLDR: They always gonna say something, the internet is a just a louder mic. fukk the payback, Live your life breh

Y’all really tryna #bothsides this.

:mjlol:

I remember a lot of c00nery from back then but black men weren’t calling for bw to be aborted, shot by police, etc. and getting 100k + likes for it. Add that to the fact that black men were getting hated on before that era although it’s not as explicit as it is today.

Some will argue this goes back decades and they are probably right, but as far as the modern era or digital age goes, the "new Black " years was the foundation of the whole the gender war/divest phenomenon you see online today. Dudes were saying some crazy ass shyt back then, and it really messed with the esteem of a lot of girls and women.

That’s a common sentiment amid a certain site :mjpls:
Did my own independent research. :hubie:

You just have to search tweets during that period. nikkas were mad flagrant with the c00ning. Even under the guise of “clowning”.

There was a huge paradigm shift after Trayvonn Martin and Mike Brown’s murders.
