I always consider, No Idea's Original and Everybody's crazy Stillmatic songs cause they were bonus tracks on the original version. The Lost Tapes version of No Idea's Original was better though

classics dont have 3 weak songs on them

Rule, BH Party and Got Urself suck. 2 of them had minimal replay in its day, as the years went on they sound terrible. Smokin isnt exactly great itself

this..i listened to illmatic the 1st time years ago(in college) to see why do hip hop nerds put it on such a pedestal and was disappointed by it's lack of substance....the beats put me to sleep and half the time I wasn't aware wtf nas was rapping about though I suspect it was the typical NY backpack rap themes(i'm the illest yo, sucker mcs, etc) type ish...where as while i'm not sure I consider it classic stilmatic was solid and atleast was one of the few mainstream rap albums relatively recently to have black conscious message.

they are stillmatic songs, they exsist as bonus tracks on some versions and actual included content on some international versions. and that no idea on losttapes is the alchemist remix. someone else did the original on stillmatic.

Yea that's kind of how I feel. It's a 4.5 type of album, and I wouldn't have a problem with people considering it a classic. I just can't say for sure to me, it's close, but I generally try to put the "classic" label on 5/5 type albums.

exactly how i feel. i consider the japanese version to be the truer classic though.

agreed but if you look toward the japanese release things even out a lot more. it included no ideas original pt 1, black zombies and everybodys crazy.

IWW is better than stillmatic no matter what but i love smoking, classic song.

I can understand someone not liking Ether (Not too fond of the beat myself) or Got Urself, but One Mic? :comeon:

Got Urself has that awful, trashy, megahertz production. and a sopranos hook? really? pass.

One Mic is just bad. epic fail. i'm aware nas fans like it but they also like nastradamus more than they should.

Nope.

It was a big album, had a nice impact when it dropped, and it has some stand out songs....but it just doesn't get the replay value from me to where I could call it a classic album myself. Still cool though.

I like Ether better than One Mic :yeshrug:

I don't consider any of those Pac albums 5/5 personally - those are all 4.5s or so to me. Way too many shytty guest artists imo, and 2 or so tracks I don't like on each. But yea Outkast is definitely very close with their first 3-4 albums.

I agree with the exception of MATW, I think it may be one of the best examples of the genre from any artist.

As for Stillmatic, I agree with the posters that say its 4.5 mic album, its a near classic, same way a feel about Jays Blueprint, even if I don't feel think its a true classic, I wouldn't blame people that did though, its a great album def one of the best albums of the past 15 years. It's Nas's 4th best album, imo.

:wtf:

you have to REALLY be desperate to give nas a classic if you think stillmatic even comes close to being a classic. :heh: GTFO.

illmatic is the only classic nas has dropped. and it deserves the honor, being a timeless album that would still bang to this day. but no other album of his is a classic. not even close.

Sex with death, indulge in these women
Vision my own skeleton swimmin
in eternal fire
Broads play with pentagrams in they vagina
Like the Exorcist, then they gave birth to my seeds
I beg for God's help, why they love hurtin me?

Forty-five in my waist, starin at my reflection
In the mirror, sittin still in the chair like my conception
When everything around me got cloudy, the chair became a king's throne
My destiny found me
It was clear why the struggle was so painful
Metamorphosis, this is what I changed to
And God, I'm so thankful

:ahh:

That song is the embodiment of :ahh:
