Credit cards are useful when used correctly. Alot of them have built in fraud protections and other benefits.

How do people book hotels, plane tickets and such without one?
i do all that with my debit card.

i never had a credit card and i don't plan on getting one anytime soon. i guess i can see how they can be useful to build credit if you pay them off right away. But like i said there is other ways to build your credit.

Do me a favor.

Take out your debit card. Just trust me, do this.

Take it out and look at it.

Does it have a Visa or Mastercard logo on it? Well breh... :francis: that's also a credit card.

Don't believe me? Do you have a bank with Visa? Nope, because Visa is a credit company not a bank.

... you can build credit without a credit card. There is no reason you should be okay with actively hustling backwards month to month. That is exactly how they trap you in the rat race. "i don't have money for these jays till next week, guess i'll just use my credit card and stay in servitude forever, herp derp"
Its all self control breh. Just use a credit card like its a debit card. Plus its safer than a debit card: If you use an ATM that is hacked/skimmed and they get your debit card info they steal YOUR MONEY and its a process and a b*tch to get resolved and get your money back. If they get your credit card info then they're stealing SOMEONE ELSE'S MONEY and the problem is quicker and easier to resolve. I had both happen to me. I rarely rarely use my debit card useless its an absolute must.

Also certain places put 'freezes on your money' like rent a car places, hotels, and when you pay for gas at the pump instead of paying inside the station with the clerk at the cash register. for example say you're out of town and you need to rent a car and you're going to use your debit card. If you do this they'll run a credit check right there on the spot which can lower your credit score plus they'll put a freeze of at least $300 dollars on the card(basically its a security deposit). So if you only have $400 in your checking you will now only have $100 bucks of free money which is crushing if you plan on going out to eat or drink for a few days. Hotels do the same sh*t. And it doesn't clear up or free the money back up until 2-3 days after you return the car. So if you use a debit card for everything make sure you have a gee at least in your checking.

-Call it messed up or whatever but that's just the way it is.:manny: Get a credit card and pay the bill off in full every month. Use it like a debit card. At worst pay the bill off as fast as you can- 2-3 months. Emergencies do happen but all that deep deep credit card debt is nothing more than reckless spending and living beyond your means. Self control

It's not a credit card because he can't spend more than what is in his bank account (aka he can't borrow on credit)
Visa is just handling the infrastructure behind the payment.

@FilliBuster Debit cards require an extra hold or deposit to be put on ya bank funds when you rent car or book a hotel. I get certain fees waived and consumer protections when i use an Amex.

I've been using credit cards to float about 10K worth of debt for the last 6 months. Can't wait to pay them shyts offs this fall.

Credit cards are either going to make your life more stressful are much less stressful. Having a Cc with at least 2k on it for emergencies or even to treat yourself to something nice like once a year isn't a bad thing. Also using them correctly builds up your credit score (you usually need about 3-4 for awhile) which later on takes a major load off when looking to buy a car, house or whatever.

You have alot more power when your credit score is good or high.

However having bad credit can be one of the most stressful things ever, trying to pay of Loans and CC while getting late fee's, negative marks and with High interest rates is super demoralizing and you'll feel like your drowning every single day.

The best thing you can do is get one, use it but never have more than 40 percent on it if you can help it and always pay double what the minimum balance is. If you can't...just make sure it isn't late.

Credit is really powerful....fake power. But power non the less.

Its all about self control, it can spiral out of hand really quick if your not very careful.

Right.

So you're already responsible.

So you should take advantage of the benefits of credit.

Namely, using it the same way you would use your debit card, then just pay it off in full every month.

You spend the exact same amount of money.

You just have added protection from fraud and theft, often time extended warranties just from using your card, as well as cash back or points.

If you're responsible (and it sounds like you are) there's literally no reason not to do this.

i do all that with my debit card.
.
youre better off doing that shyt with a CC and then paying it back in full, thats what i do. the other reason being that the CC isnt your money yet, and the debit card is access right to your bank account. MUCH better off having someone fukk with the CC then your debit if that happens

but yea 'needing credit' is definitely relative. personally i run up about 200 bucks a month with cable and shyt, had a CC for the past 4 years and havent paid a cent in interest :yeshrug:
