Nah, but a group of people smartly understood the benefits of certain social programs and how publicly funded institutions and civil services could provide greater reach to citizens.

Plus most people, if they took time to really understand, would see that Medicaid/Medicare and Social Security are Socialists programs. Now while I do think Capitalism isn't the best, Socialism has it's pitfalls, but I tend to think American will move a hybrid style by the end of 2050.

As everyone should, each form of government has its pros and cons, no one should limit themselves to a single tenet, just utilize the best constructs from each and adapt them to what is most beneficial to society.

It has to or we will break apart both as a nation and as a planet.
