The American dream has been a lie for your entire life OP. Besides that dream was never for black people to be successful

You're right, but the comment and profile picture juxtaposition were too perfect

Look at scenes from NYC in the 1970s and you'll have the answer. Urban decay and blight in the Bronx, prostitutes and pimps frequented Times Square, while Central Park was filled with muggers and rapists. Homeless, junkies and drug dealers occupied boarded-up and abandoned buildings.

It's always been like this, but from the 1950s-70s and then throughout the 90s, Americans ate good ngl.

Was there ever a dream?

When there’s hyper-capitalism & shytload of money is in circulation with hyper-spending (consumerism)- a few who know how to play the game would get through & get rich from disadvantaged backgrounds. But it doesn’t negate the reality of the majority.

That’s basically what American dream pipe-dream was built on.

They're trying to take away social security. Pension funds getting snatched up. Wages are flat and home prices are soaring. This shyt getting wild brehs
The American dream was an advertising campaign to sell real estate in the suburbs to you know how. Still, I agree with the premise of this thread and the outlook isn't looking all that great for people.

American dream was based on the idea that the average person could build a life, start a family, find decent paying middle class jobs without a college degree and buy a house.

Gen Z and millennials struggles to do any of that so I’d say yeah it’s dead :manny:

The "American dream" died in the 1970s.

and further cemented its death in 2010

And with the current ultra-"conservative" SC, expect the embers of that dream to be destroyed.

People want to keep voting republican and get more of these regressive judges on various federal seats though. Then those same folk will complain about the economy.

Been dead since the 80s
I'll say attaining it easily died in the 80s and arguably mid to late 70s.

You need a main job and a hustle these days and don't rely on companies for your retirement years. It's a gamble where it once was a given.

Thing is you have access to more information and more customers than ever thanks to the internet.

That's why I don't hate on females who do shyt like of. Internet is the new hustle. Some hustles are clean and some are dirty.

Plus I like hos. Hos are fun.
