Is the slang nowadays corny or am I just getting old?

what context is"it's giving" used in? I know the rest.

The obvious answer here is social media. So, what was regional slang, possibly made multi regional by rap songs, now starts (or is popularized) with people who have large followings on social media, and then repeated by all of them, and on it goes.

In previous eras it was more natural, you heard your boys saying it, an it happened more naturally, rather than direct imitation, like you watch a video and then start using the phrase.

I do use some slang, but hardly any from "new generation", I truthfully would rather not lapse into my elementary year days and say stuff like "dog", when I lose my temper, but when I do use those kinds of words, that's coming from an authentic place, if I go and watch some video and then start saying '_____" tomorrow, that's a little forced.

The worst is very white, very "yuppie", using like deep black/trap/jail slang.

hearing these youngin's talk just Makes me do the :flabbynsick: :unimpressed: .

Also the phones tiktok they all got this on the Spectrum don't look into your eyes when talking thing going on. ( Like they are doing a live stream and reading the comments) . So many ways to communicate and they lost the art of it. No wonder they're so many 'incels'

They also walk around and do things go places and stay looking at their phone i'm from the Hood and from a third world country and the crack era rule number 1 always have your head on a swivel and 2 never turn your back to the door/exit. The younging's on my fam i fruck around with them whenever they are distracted or looking at they phone. Like loosening the salt/pepper dispenser when they posting their meal instead of eating :lolbron: i call em the ADD generation.

I don't have a problem with new slang. I just hate that everyone sounds like a carbon copy of each other now.

If someone has raggedy clothes then you might say that their outfit is "giving hobo". Or if they have a messed up hairline then you might say that their haircut is "giving George Jefferson". Basically, it's the same thing as saying that something is giving off a certain vibe except you cut the vibes part off the end of the sentence

My GF told me about rizz the other day and i felt old as hell. Never heard the word in my life

Only time I ever heard that word was when it was a nickname for Ralph Tresvant.

They need to bring back 80s/90s slang. Things like "word to the mother" and "stupid" and "dope def dumb doogie."

Slang should’ve stayed regional and secret. It defeats the purpose when everyone knows the code.

It's so corny when it hits white mainstream media.

My boss, white old cac in his 50s, director of a large engineering company, he knows some slang words, through his kids
