I mean, the average US citizen is living a golden life compared to most people around the world.

How much more or less should the government be doing to help the truly poor?

Will you ever be satisfied with anything? Are you already satisfied?

As much as they can or as much as other countries?

Compared to other countries (outside of Norway,Sweden...but that's whole other discussion because those countries take preventive measure to prevent people from being poor ) the US has some of the best social service programs for the poor in the world.

Social Services is my field so i feel to a certain extent yes the government does enough to stop those who seek help from starving/ being homeless and keep your head barely above water , which again head barely above water in the US = living like a king in most third world countries, but i think not enough is done to push more people into the upper classes, which of course is done by design IMO.

but yea if i was going to be poor in any country this would be the one to do it in

The Scandnivaian comparison always falls flat to me because:

1. These nations spend nothing on defense...because the US/NATO does it (and this matters a lot as a percentage of GDP and tax allocation etc.)
2. These nations are like...30-60x smaller than the US in population. Norway has 5 million people...which is like Houston/Boston/DC/ATL/MIAMI Sweden has like 10 million...which is LA/NYC/Chicago :heh:

There's no real reason we HAVE to spent that much on defense.

And poor people in the US aren't better off than poor people in other developed countries, by most measures they're worse off. Especially when it comes to having access to health care. Comparing us to 3rd world countries is apples and oranges.

Also, relative to most other developed countries, rich people have a disproportionate share of wealth. Any study anywhere would back that up.

No. Chicago shouldn't be like that. There's kids there getting guns just like in Uganda. Only difference is there's 50 other states to weigh it out and make it seem like on average we're good.

Hopefully Kendrick brings all the gangs together :blessed::cape:

and the weird thing is in america, the working class gets all alcoholic and depressed because they know there's kids starving in Africa, so they feel like they aren't doing as much as they should, so they work harder, end up missing their kids baseball games. Then that kid goes on to get addicted to prescription meds in highschool on the low because his dad neglected him. Then the kids in the third world countries end up pitying American kids because they're sad all the time and never know their parents

Weird world we live in, man

1. Every member state of NATO contributes to the budget breh. Plus there's this thing called diplomacy they invest in too. No one is forcing the US to spend all that money on "defense" ( = subsidizing the industrial military complex).
2. This point is mute because you can look up at how much they spend relatively to their size/per capita.

1. Not every nation does so equally. Period. This can't even be a serious argument

2. These nations spend more on social welfare because they don't have nearly the same expenses or population that the USA does.
