I’m big into working out and being physically healthy but never really tried therapy which from what I hear is supposed to be the goat for your mental health and truly learning to love yourself.

I’ve made money , smashed hella broads and still know there is something missing to truly find happiness. I am happy when I’m fukked up but outside of that I’m living that robotic rat race life working a job and counting down towards the weekend. This can’t be what life is all about.

Coli folks , what is your experience with therapy?

Went for a few sessions, got some benefit out of it for sure. Just have to be open to realizing what it may reveal. Can’t be defensive going in IMO

I believe therapy can be beneficial, if a person want it to be beneficial. However, those who don't believe in therapy will not benefit from it.

At the end of the day, whether one goes to therapy or not, I believe that a person need to address whatever issues they may have in order to live a happy and productive life.

I guess it all depends on if your issues seem out of your control and you want to fix them versus you embracing your issues and don't want to change.

Do you want therapy or do you just want to vent?

There's always someone who vents to people just to humble brag about how this dysfunctional their life is as a badge of honor

Depends on whether you got the basics down packed. If you a virgin getting no ass no one can make you feel better same if you broke.

It's really about balance of you balanced therapy is more beneficial but if you not balanced it's a waste of time. Nothing can compete with your direct feeling about something especially if you can't get it.

Probably better for married men or women with spouses than single sister with kids in poverty no or words of encouragement is gonna take away that feeling from within.

Usually therapy is a waste on most black people since we live in more poverty than other groups.

It's been very beneficial for me, I wish I would have gone much earlier in life but I've always been one of those people that felt like, "what can a person who doesn't know me do to help me that I can't do for myself". Holding that ignorant position has held back a lot of potential growth.

If you're on the fence about it, just give it a shot and be willing to fully trust the process, it's not easy.

I've been doing it for a year and I don't feel like its done anything for me. I want to take responsibility for the way that my life is turning out and the therapist always finds a way to say that I'm being too hard on myself or that certain things are out of my control. Hearing that doesn't make me feel better and hasn't helped me to improve myself. Going to therapy has just made me feel that nobody can really help me except myself, so it's pointless to keep trying to find answers from other people.

Well it shouldn’t be about finding answers from others as opposed to them facilitating a conversation that helps lead you to self discovery.
