I think Kobe was the most polarizing among basketball fans

especially 2015-2018

that shyt was gettin wild it was deadass Bron or Kobe and U had to pick your allegiance

Everyone respected Kobe too, deadass I think some people don’t respect Bron all the way, I think it’s his persona despite his stature but I digress cuz that’s another topic for another day

But if we talkin all sports it’s OJ no debate

Only other athlete i can remember being as polarizing is…

A-Rod was more hated than he was polarizing. NOBODY liked A-Rod in his prime, unless he played for their team (and even Yankee fans turned on him towards the end).

It's interesting.

Golf fans love Tiger. And they're majority old white men.

I don't know how the general public feels about him. Women that don't fukk him probably don't like him

It may not have been a permanent stain on his record with us, but a lot of black folk were put off by him labeling himself a "Cablinasian" back in the late 90s :francis:

Kaepernick.

Kaep is a very interesting one. At first it was definitely split along racial / cultural lines (although a good amount of "woke whites" sided with him), but as time has worn on, between getting a better overall picture of him (physical appearance, his obnoxious voice, fake Black Panther member style with the jacket to match), calling the NFL a slave trade and taking that settlement but still trying to get a seat at the NFL's table up to this past weekend, that entire weird tryout / showcase that was set up for him and his awkward response to it, and even going after an American sweetheart in Steve Urkel on that show of his, I don't think he has nearly as many that are on his side today as there are that are either against or just indifferent to him.

You get a sense that he kinda overplayed his hand with the whole activist persona.

A lot of the names mentioned were polarizing along racial lines,AI, OJ, Tiger.

LeBron is the most polarizing to me, in part because his career coincided with the rise of social media and the hot take industry. Makes me wonder if MJ would've been as revered in a Skip Bayless, Nick Wright, Steve A era.:patrice:
