I have a lot of family in Mississippi (mostly in the southern part) from my moms side. She loves it because she was born there . Though she moved to California when she was six, it seems like she still goes there every summer. Then again, she's pretty country. If it wasn't for that and Biloxi, where my dad was stationed while in the Air Force/ sister birthplace, the state would be for me. I went there for a week 12 Years ago with my mom and I was @ how much family history I got there. I couldn't stay longer than three days though let alone a week

yeah, Southaven is pretty much the place to be right now if you wanna live here.

It doesn't get a lot of press, and that's perfectly fine. I'm sure they wanna keep it that way.

Other places here have either been in the margins for a long time (Indianola, Belzoni, Sundown Towns, The Hurricane Coast, etc), thrust into the spotlight because of a positive/negative influx of interest (Tunica and Casinos, Jackson having a drug dealer mayor from Texas followed by the Tupac Shakur family lawyer as mayor... who both "died under mysterious circumstances", the Jackson area's skyrocketing crime rate, hurricanes, the brown water in Greenvile no one talks about because it's famous for aspiring authors, "lynchings",The Help", etc) or no one gives a shyt about.

Yes, it's ULTRA segregated. But that's only because the segregation rules pretty much started here. There's places you'll never see a white person unless it's at a bank or doctor's office/drug store.... but black people can come out of their houses and look across the street and see communities of white people but they know they could never set foot there.

I know plenty of black folks that call the white people they work for "Da Boss Mayne". and the white owners of poor towns have been blocking walmarts since 1978 because they'd rather a general store make 10k a year than progress be made.

Other places may have more crime of more fukkery, but if you're black or poor? Mississippi is the WOAT of WOATS.

At y'all dissin my home state like that. The 601 and 662 (Delta area and Jackson area) are kinda but the Coast is beautiful. We got the beach, casinos, condos and all that And we probably the least segregated in the state with plenty of mixed babies.. So u pawg lovers can feast down here . And our State is 40% black, The highest percentage in the Country . And the Women (Black of course I ain't down with the Swirl) in MS .. Y'all probably live in NY somewhere callin an Arab Papi or in LA gettin punked by Mexicans..y'all better show some respect to the GOAT State

My grandparents live in Mississippi and its
My family has more money now than anyone else living there and we own our own land and my uncle owns a pond
Aside from all the edomites Mississippi has a lot of natural beauty in regards to the landscape, I would go their just to fish or hunt

Frank Melton: Exiled over here from Texas and left his wife over there to "the business". Got into politics by being a mousy safe looking negro with money and surfed into office by telling the old white money in Bellhaven that he'd clean up the city (bellhaven is on the border between Jackson and South Jackson, "downtown" is marked by State Street), won.

Spent the next few years at war with Batman (albert daniels, I'm not claiming to know his dealings) while roaming around in bullet proof vests with shotguns and shutting down whole apartment complexes citing "drug raids" on the 6 o'clock news..

Old white people in the fondren district ate it up. Finally a Sambo (NOT an "Uncle Tom") to keep us safe from the nigras south of downtown.

A little while later..... "Why is he wasting our money on crack houses and apartment complexes with nobody living in them!?"

When there was no territory left for him to claim, white folks got tired of him.

Next thing you know, he was on trial for wasting tax payers money on drug busts while busting his guns.....

then some other shyt happened while he was on trial. He died of a heart attack right after impeachment, while he was "trying" to RE-RUN for mayor of Jackson..

Not a fun couple of years.

When I say "Shakur Family Lawyer" , that's not hyperbole. Dude represented Geronimo Pratt and all, going back to the 80s.

He won the official election on may 21, 2013. Dude was on some Claud Anderson "PowerNomics" shyt with maps and blueprints and diagrams and all for how to make the city better for blacks and the poor.

He had a stomach ache and checked into St. Dominic's hospital at the end of February, 2014.

Died of a heart attack right after!? That same day!
