South Mississippi (Hattiesburg, Biloxi, Gulfport) is dope. You got beaches and casinos plus the University of Southern Mississippi is full of fine sistas and pawgs.
Easily the best part of MS to live in.


Jackson is like a downsouth Detroit in terms of socioeconomic and political infrastructure (High crime and unemployment rates, over 80% black population). The surrounding suburbs like Rideland, Madison, Clinton, Brandon, and Byram are where most of the whites live and the police in these places have a strict attitude. They'll pull a brother over for not having a working tag light.

North Mississippi has some beautiful countryside scenery in towns like Tupelo, West Point, and Starkville where Mississippi State is.

yeah, Southaven is pretty much the place to be right now if you wanna live here.

It doesn't get a lot of press, and that's perfectly fine. I'm sure they wanna keep it that way.

Other places here have either been in the margins for a long time (Indianola, Belzoni, Sundown Towns, The Hurricane Coast, etc), thrust into the spotlight because of a positive/negative influx of interest (Tunica and Casinos, Jackson having a drug dealer mayor from Texas followed by the Tupac Shakur family lawyer as mayor... who both "died under mysterious circumstances", the Jackson area's skyrocketing crime rate, hurricanes, the brown water in Greenvile no one talks about because it's famous for aspiring authors, "lynchings",The Help", etc) or no one gives a shyt about.

Yes, it's ULTRA segregated. But that's only because the segregation rules pretty much started here. There's places you'll never see a white person unless it's at a bank or doctor's office/drug store.... but black people can come out of their houses and look across the street and see communities of white people but they know they could never set foot there.

I know plenty of black folks that call the white people they work for "Da Boss Mayne". and the white owners of poor towns have been blocking walmarts since 1978 because they'd rather a general store make 10k a year than progress be made.

Other places may have more crime of more fukkery, but if you're black or poor? Mississippi is the WOAT of WOATS.

I used to mess with a girl from Belzoni. I loved her accent and she was so sweet.
