Is there a way to be a part of hiphop culture without being involved with the streets?

Dang, how you know the names of who Cole got on with. I know he had to have some ties cause even before rap dude was on my super sweet 16 in the cut and shyt lmao. Also I remember childish mentioning Tina Fey but didn't put it together that he had NYU connections.

That's crazy man. shyt like that make the game unfair cause as much talent as you got it means nothing without connections and they gonna want money too.

No Chicago is not only black gangs. I mentioned Chicago because the fukking Mob was out there and all kind of corruption from both white and black people.

True that but according to some of the brothers in here it's not always the streets but it can be backing by corporate connections tied to things like the mob.

shyt seems spooky. Forget that fake illuminati shyt, but what SKJ and SJUGrad are speaking on is like the real illuminati.

Entertainment and the mob go hand in hand bro. Frank Sinatra was heavily affiliated. Las Vegas, LA, NYC, Chicago...If money is going to get made, it's going to get made.

Rap music is not Hip Hop. A lot of shyt that goes on in the rap game is the furthest thing away from what Hip Hop culture is.

So yes you can be apart of Hip Hop without being involved in the streets. If you're trying to get into the rap game without having to deal with the street element...good luck.

Correction: the Entertainment game is scary as fukk

I know of a sweet looking American Idol finalist SINGER whom old master recordings being held right now till this by a southern gangsta azz dude that I met whom refuses to release them unless his PRICE is met

Same with a middle aged gospel singer whom I tried to sign but the deal fell thru because she owed a HUGE DEBT to the so called exec producer whom refused to clear her for a project I had..

Gangstas don't care about genres they just wanna and gonna EAT
Gospel? Damn, even Jesus not saving people from this kinda shyt. That's crazy!

As for the singer's situation do you know how he got it? Does he own a label or something.

Both those situation are fukking nuts man.

That's real talk, they always get there share is what I hear and though many mob bosses went down and those families aren't as powerful as they once were you always hear stories about corruption from their kids. So I would think they are still collecting just differently then before when they were going all out.

The streets have slowly been phased out of the Hip Hop game.

Think about it, once upon a time if you were a rapper you had to move through a Black "label owner/exec. producer" with "street ties". J-Prince. Baby. Master P. Dame. Puffy.

Nowadays all Cac A&R's have to do is have a youtube/soundcloud account and they can find acts through there.

Atlanta and Chicago are the pretty much the last strongholds of strong street ties to popular rappers.

Never would have thought he had to go through this kind of stuff too.

He summed it up.

A lot of drug dealers are funding up and coming rap careers to get their hands on music money

A lot of clubs you perform at are run by drug dealers and the promoters are backed by drug money

It's inevitable

I think all of y'all are misunderstanding the fact that criminal ties to entertainers go beyond the streets and is not just limited to hood artists with gangsta themes...

And this dynamic (crime and entertainment) was here LONG BEFORE hip hop became an industry

Because it ain't just Protection that artists require from the underworld it's also the key to GETTING INTO THE ENTERTAINMENT GAME....

which is why it doesn't matter if you do happy go lucky music....nothing insulates you from underworld elements simply because u have fame and can bring in revenue

In this picture U have fun loving Bob Marley sitting between two notorious gangstas of Jamaica during the 70s...

Claudie Massop and Bucky Marshall both of whom ran posses whom held major influence on the reggae industry

bob-claude-tek-life.png

Even the soft balled lovely singer Dionne Warwick was subpoena by the Feds for testimony against mob affiliated superagent NORBY WALTERS and his partner in crime Michael Franceze

best-dionne-warwick-albums-list-u2

So once again ...NOBODY IS EXEMPT

yup. this shyt extends outside just rap music, look at Prince for example. shyt even brittany spears and all these child actors.

no matter what music you're doing you're being taken advantage of by someone in the industry, it's in the movie industry too. all that shyt is connected.

the industry is full of vultures

Everybody HAS to go through this is what I realised because it's an UNREGULATED INDUSTRY...

so basically anything goes...

We smoke weed in studios and mixtape parties and events without fear of reprisals...

We don't report the majority of our income to the IRS

We create and enforce contracts with no fair or legal.. arbitration

We can cross train in all aspects ..management .. promotion.... recording...sales with no conflict of Intrest

So the Entertainment Business is basically a GANGSTAZ PARADISE and has been that way since it's Inception

:manny:

Can't blame the BMFs and Suge Knights for something that has preceded them for decades

Cyhi told no lies......

U either get GANGSTA when it.comes to this business or get GOT

I remember when my business partner first decided to move our operations to ATL during the early 2gs ...

After we had got some momentum with some shows and placements and managed to get the attention of WEA (Warner) ...btw FUKK CRAIG KALLMAN :pacspit:

When we arrived we hit all the spots for networking and my ceo partner had a meeting with one of the Atlanta urban stations...

First thing he said after exiting that meeting and assessing our activities in ATL was...

"We gon need some Muscle!" :whew:

And he wasn't just talking financial muscle ...

It was pretty clear that relationships would have to be formed with bosses of the city if we expected to eat much less survive in the game....

To sum it up...

Relationships mean EVERYTHING...
