Is there a worse contract in all of sports than John Wall getting 16 million a year?

So lets get this straight, a guy comes off of injury to lift the worst team in the league to be average, is maybe a top 5 athlete we have ever seen at the position, plays in a big market, puts up a 21 per (up every year), along with 20, 8 and 4 per 36 and he sucks now?

Watch sportscenter instead of games much brehs :laff:?

John Wall hasn't played an elite season yet and he's getting paid like a Superstar. I would of waited for him to play out this year and see if he truly made the next step. Dude is making more than Westbrook and only $2MM less than KD.

Just because the season was over for them doesn't mean it was over for the other teams they played and beat.

y'all act like they won the championship when he returned. They went 25-25 yo. So what?
In his first 2 months back he was horrible by the way, shootin around 40% with 4to's and 13-14 ppg.
He had a great march and April, yeah. So with 26 meaningfull games he's gettin 80 million?
Im not saying that John Wall is a bust, but he's not worth 80 million.
He's not top 10 in his position, thats enough

speaking of bad contracts, the knicks have two of the worst. amare obviously, but tyson chandler getting $15M a season is ridiculous.

Joe Johnson has an old guard contract, so the value is based on his potential when he was slated to be one of the best big pg's backups.
Since, that contract duke has not shown one glimmer of those pg skills in phx, after that.

True, and we learn from mistakes. Wall has a brighter future that can't be denied. Paying someone like Wade for instance. Or Bosh
Seems like neither of them will live up to there contracts either. Seems like out of all the players you could pay before they became officially official?
Wall would be #1 on that list IMO

wade and bosh might not be worth it by the time their contract nears the end, but at least the heat got 2 ships out the deal thus far. I don't think it's bad to overpay when you get that kinda return on investment. hell, both of those dudes made the all star team each year since they signed that deal at least :yeshrug:

who knew wade would get :flabbynsick: in the finals, and bosh would pull a complete no show in game 7. luckily they pulled it off, or those two would have gotten crucified in the media.

Wade and Bosh have NOTHING to do with them winning tho. Its more like they won it in spite of D.Wade and Bosh's contracts.
There are literally 100 players that could do what they have done since signing that contract. Imagine if they were gone all along, they'd have 180million to spend on other talent. Not 5, Not 6, Not 7 could of been a reality if they wasn't in the equation. Now it likely stops at 2. Not a bad streak, but it could of been much more is all I'm saying....

Yes but has he done anything to say hell live up to a max contract ? No one said he's a d league talent but he's overpaid because Washington needed to keep him like how the. Knicks had to pay amare to lure superstars . What's more likely in 3 years we say oh wow wall is the truth or we hear about how he's hurt and the team sucks but if he stayed healthy they'd win
Any player who has that kind of talent and create that kind of turnaround in such a short amount of time is going to get paid. Jeremy Lin got about 8.4 per year doing much less, he pretty much got paid because of his crazy hype when he came out of nowhere.

Exactly, and the season being "over" for them probably makes it even harder for them to win games since everyone is so discouraged.

He balled, he has talent, and he plays on a team with no other solid players. The contract is justified from the Wizards perspective. Also, those who keep bringing up Amar'e contract love to conveniently forget that the knicks were basically going to have to give 100 milly to whatever player that was even willing to play in NY after the decade+ of irrelevance.

If not for someone comparing Riley Cooper to Malcom X, this would easily be the worst thread of the week.

I still can't fanthom how this guy got this deal. This is worse than the Arenas deal as the Wizards then had a young playoff team in addition to the fact Arenas was a proven commodity, averaging 25 points a night.

There is no worse deal than this one. Not A-Rod. Not anyone.

This guy will never efficiently average 20 points a game!!

The Wizards think he's pre-injury Derrick Rose or something?

The Wiz Kids played well when he came back from injury. I'd like to see him play a full season before I judge.
