Is there a worse contract in all of sports than John Wall getting 16 million a year?

He doesnt know how to run the position.. :yeshrug:
He has below average basketball iq, which is vital for the position he plays.

i know basketball enough, to understand that this guy, is not a playmaker but more of a 2 guard, (just like Westbrook) does not know how to run a team, when to run, when to calm down the team. he's not a leader, he skips plays especialy on defence, has a bad attitude on the floor very often, when the other team steal a ball and goes on a fast break, i've seen John Wall not going back to defence, just walk. He is not a good finisher around the rim (yet at least) his jumpshot is suspect at best, still, he averages almost 4 TO's. Etc etc.
Does he have potential? of course he has. Im not seeing him as a franchise player though, i dont believe in him, this is just me.
Would i give him 80m $ ? Hell no. He's in the 40-55 range.
He led an NBDL level team to a .500 record when he came back mid season. Had he played all year they would have been in the playoffs and this thread would not have been made. He DOES have a turnover problem, I will give you that, but it did go down slightly last year.

What went up tho? PPG, FG Percentage, and Free Throw Percentage after coming off an injury. He is looking to have a 20 ppg and 8+ apg season next year...yeah that is max money in the NBA.

im not looking at the stats so much, i look at impact on the team, on and off the floor.
An example, Steph Curry had a "Max year" last year. he guided his team in the playoffs as the main guy (with a much better supporting cast than wall of course), and had the whole city goin crazy, he was the main reason, the leader of this movement. This was a max year.
I wanna see Wall doin somethin similar before i'll call him a max player or anywhere close to that.
He was paid because of his potential, and because the Wizards were afraid to lose someone who could POTENTIALY turn out to be great player (which i dont see)
He was not paid because of his work the past 3 years.

For him to be a justified max player, he needs to do what steph curry did. Lew

from 5-28 without him to 25-25 is not enough impact for you?

it shows potential my man. But its meaningless, because the season was over for them when he returned.. They were playing basically meaningless games from then on.
All im saying is his body of work in these 3 first years in the nba , does not justify a max contract. Nowhere close to a max contract.

That is not his fault, it shows how bad they need him and the fact that he led that shytty team to a .500 record shows PLENTY.

I bet Kentucky beats that squad without John Wall

Yes but has he done anything to say hell live up to a max contract ? No one said he's a d league talent but he's overpaid because Washington needed to keep him like how the. Knicks had to pay amare to lure superstars . What's more likely in 3 years we say oh wow wall is the truth or we hear about how he's hurt and the team sucks but if he stayed healthy they'd win

for one, we talking about the Wizards... Yeah Wall aint worth no got damn 16million per.

but they arent going to attract free agents at this point.. so you gotta have some type of stability building this team. I hate the money they giving to him, but whats the alternative? NONE

Wizards, Charlotte, Bucks etc.. all gotta build with the draft and has been vets. what else can they do?

I don't understand the hate for Wall. Yes the contract is on the pricey side, but I don't blame the Wiz for locking up a talent like Wall.

Just because the season was over for them doesn't mean it was over for the other teams they played and beat.
