Is there anyone over 30 making less than 50k annually on here?

Wow that's a great set up. Do you live at home or is rent automatically deducted off your school stipend.

I'd ideally want to be in a situation like this. I wanna go back to school but want somebody other than me footing the bills. What Phd are you doing? Is it STEM?

It's not STEM, I don't want to share the field because some people know my school and would be able to identify me since there are so few black people. The vast majority of stem PhD programs come with funding, I have never seen one that wasn't funded. STEM stipends are typically way more than stipends in other fields.

One deciding factor in choosing my school was whether they had residential positions that were open to graduate students (where you live for free but help build community). It was important because I was leaving a different Phd program after investing a few years, and I simply couldn't afford to lose another five years worth of savings. Where I live, rent for a one bedroom can easily cost 1800-2400, which is the majority of our stipend. I would be struggling without the free housing and ten meals per week.

Here we go :mjlol:

Disclaimer: 50k in all markets are not equal. For instance 50k is a very comfortable life thru much of the south while 50k will have you living like a bum in nyc or sf....

A better measure of success would be, how do you stack up against the median income for your area and your field..

(Waits for someone to say im mad, and i must not make 50k :sas2:)
Why would anyone say bold? You must have just started getting bread or something. You sound like cats when they first start getting girls with that last line.

To be honest I've never heard of such a thing. When I go back to school I know I will be guaranteed a good stipend, but rent will eat away at a lot of it. If I could get free / discounted lodgings somehow i'd go back to grad school in a heart beat. Anyways it looks like you are really setup for a bright future. Best of luck.

Just check out the university websites to see if grad students are eligible to resident advisors. At one school I applied to, only professional students who be RAs since graduate students already had assistantships. Just dig around and best of luck to you!

Not really cause to be honest you didn't say anything worthy of anybody saying bold. Its not like you said some online unbelievable rare shyt like I make 10 mill a year and then put that statement. I would understand it then but what you said nah. Its moreso like you wanted someone to question you so you can prove them wrong on some humble brag stuff. That's how I see it.

Nah breh, it's their fault. There are plenty of careers available out there that yield good income and require little to no education. Truck driving instantly comes to mind. I'm tired of nikkas getting tattoos on their face at 16 years old and then claiming that there aren't any jobs out there. Nah, you're just a fukk up.
Yea you righ life is definitely what you make it but kids don't have no guidance, that's what happens when ya father not around..

I just look at how it was when our parents was growing up.. you didn't have to have a trade or really a high school diploma it was a lot good paying jobs..like Kodak, Ford,Bausch and Lomb etc.. they could really take care of the whole family off of the fathers income..

Minimum wage is too low these days and the cost of living is too high.. both parents damn near have to work 2 jobs and that's still not enough..now you don't have enough time to raise your kids the right way and that's why the next generation so messed up smh it's just fukked up out here.

TYRONE GA!
Hilton head is a retirement/golf community and Charleston and Florence are close to the coast, of course I'm not talking about that part of the state :what:

I'm talking about the Midlands, Upstate, the areas close to Georgia like Aiken and Edgefield. I live in Richland county 50k a year for a single person here will EASILY get u a 2200 Sq ft home, a luxury car, a house full of groceries and savings. Hell gas is $1.75 down the street from me right now. It doesn't cost that much to live nice out here

Yeah, Columbia isn't expensive at all. But that fukkin heat in Columbia is worse than the heat/humidity combo in Charleston. I can't do that shyt. At least we got the ocean in Charleston. :damn:

Get your certs breh, you are 30 and your life aint started. Aint nothing like living in your own place. Having women walking around your place in nothing but thongs on.:banderas:

I'm a chick lol (but the thought of Rihanna walking around in a thong is not a bad view if I were a guy :ehh:). But I understand completely what you're saying. I have an AS in Finance but halfway done with my bachelors in Business Management (I hate college I honestly do) but I just want to finish it. Straight up online I hate sitting in classrooms :hamster:

And my field is entertainment and pro wrestling. I just want a good job to help me help mama, save up to promote myself out of my own pocket and finally start wrestling school. I'm already working out. Wrestling school is only $4,000 but they accept monthly payments. I just want to pay that and get it out the way.

Now I'm going to live here with my mom until I get enough income to move and moving also depends on two factors: music and wrestling. If I can start training before this year ends and get a tryout sometime next year, then I'm moving to Florida. :blessed:But I want to help mama pay down as much debt as I can that's why I'm not too worried about bouncing. Even if music takes off first, mama is my first priority. Once she is okay then I will take care of myself. Men will come later. Hell the men I'm eying aren't even here. :russ:
