didn't say that because I believe someone is better than me though.
u didnt say it u implied it. Ur comment implies that the richest people in this world have God given abilities that predispose them to disproportiante shares of currency. That isnt true

Most people who have never had money often blow it on things that depreciate when they come into lump sums (see any program about lottery winners). That is why I made that statement.

Alot of people dont play the lottery, and most that play dont win. So this pool holds little water.........Ill get back to this one

As far as poker, I've noticed that even if someone wins every now and then, the same people typically end up at the final table.

thats because its the same small pool of people we're playing amongst......if we were to let the whole of society play in the tournaments, do you think it would be the same people at the final table? No, of course not. And this is exactly how this society operates.....the same small circle of people playing against each other and everyone else scrambling to get buy in money so they can play too. The problem is society has effectively made it impossiable (by monopolyzing resources, etc) for people who arent already in the game to get a seat.

It's not about being inherently better, but knowledge, skill, and certain other characteristics will consistently give you great results.

All of those characteristics dont mean shyt unless you're able to get in the game to use them. Do you really believe that the wealthiest people in the world are the only people who possess those characteristics? Do you really believe that every persons personal lot is an accurate indicator of what their personal abilities merit?

Not everyone wants to be rich. There is MORE than enough wealth in this world for everybody to live a decent life of opportunity, safety, and hard work. Nobody will dispute this. Scarcity is a myth.

Basically this

No, I didn't imply it. That is what you took from it. I know the intentions behind my post and most of it was based on the fact that I believe the most people (black, white, or other) would blow the money. I don't think it's because they are stupid; I believe it is because most people have a consumer mindset rather than a business mindset (which can be taught). That is what I believe (no one else has to but you are not going to tell me that I believe all rich people are intrinsically better because I've never said that and I wouldn't).

Alot of people dont play the lottery, and most that do dont win. So this sample pool holds little weight.........Ill get back to this one.

It might not apply to the entire population but I could take a sample of all lottery winners and draw inferences about people who instantly get rich and their wealth after a few years

thats because its the same small pool of people we're playing amongst......if we were to let the whole of society play in the tournaments, do you think it would be the same people at the final table? No, of course not. And this is exactly how this society operates.....the same small circle of people playing against each other and everyone else scrambling to get buy in money so they can play too. The problem is society has effectively made it impossiable (by monopolyzing resources, etc) for people who arent already in the game to get a seat.

First what is this analogy to? Opening a business? That requires both desire "to play" and skill. If poor people with desire were suddenly given money to both play and improve their skill then yes they would probably end up in the wealthy side of the distribution. However, the people that don't desire to play are going to end up right back where they started. No matter the socioeconomic status, there are producers and consumers. If my dad was given 1 million he would make it grow and last because he has the mindset (which was taught to him by my grandad). I can say that because he is doing that with the little he has now.

All of those characteristics dont mean shyt unless you're able to get in the game to use them. Do you really believe that the wealthiest people in the world are the only people who possess those characteristics? Do you really believe that every persons personal lot is an accurate indicator of what their personal abilities merit?

First, if you reread my post, I said that statement about poker and I do believe the people with the most skill end up at the final table in poker (even things that you've said to me has consistently landed me in the money - top 3/4 - since then).

In regard to real life, I NEVER said wealthy people are the only people who possess those characteristics. I won't allow you or anyone else to put words in my mouth or ideas in my head. My original post was about money only and what would happen if everyone suddenly became rich. I never said wealthy people are better, but I said the same business minded people with end up with the money. I am no where near rich; however, I am business minded and I know how to make the money I have work and if I got more it would continue to do so (a big reason is because I am not materialistic and I am not constantly consuming). There are so many people that no matter how much money you give them they some how end up broke and speaking from some of the people I know it's because they don't know what to do with money. I am talking about knowing how to handle money (there are rich and broke people who know how to do that).

Sometimes good players get bad cards.......if you dont have the chips to be able to

My original post was not addressing inequality or structural constraints in real life right now (it was addressing a hypothetical about everyone suddenly having the same resources and that people who are business-minded would end up on top...if you don't think so I respect your opinion); you brought that into the argument and started trying to tell me what I think and tell me that I feel below someone

The question becomes (as mentioned, I think by atlbound) "what is 'rich'?"

Some think "rich" is stupid phat money.
Some think "rich" is having enough to where they have more than what they need.

Really though: money only has the value that is assigned to it. If the news comes on tomorrow and they say "Fucc it, money is worthless now...", we'd throw it in the trash (that's a cable news broadcast, btw).

There is more than enough food for everyone to eat.
There is more than enough land for everyone to have some (I saw somewhere a couple years ago there's enough land in for every person in America to own 9 acres).

Think about it...

...or don't, whatever. I'm 'bout to eat some chicken.
