you just add random numbers until it equals up to the amount youre subtracting from. all those random numbers you used can just be added up seperately to create the difference between them, which is the answer

The example she gave me was
Instead of 10 x 6 = 60
They'll have something like (10 x 3) + (5 x 6) = 60

Well when I was in school, I learned 10 x 6= 60
My boss said her kids aren't being taught that way. She tried to show her older son how to do math in an easier way (10 x 6), and he couldn't understand what she was doing.

ID if this is true for math and addition but imo the Egyptian method is better for multiplication/division. Also, it has a strong relationship to binary numbers and is the way computers do math. Seeing as how the future will be more and more technology/computer oriented, doing math the way a computer will do it to get a better understanding of how computer functions will be the more apt way to go

I made a thread about Ancient African Math and how the method processes numbers the same way computers process numbers (Binary Code). This is probably similar to that (or a derivative of that). I've never seen this before tho.
