Is Westside Gunn's beat selection better than Rick Ross's?

Ross got one of the goat ears for production. He really made his career off that. WSG is real hit or miss with it. If the beat is only halfway decent then it makes him sound terrible. Both of them are a vibe tho

This is a good comp.

I’m leaning towards WSG cuz of east coast/recency bias.

I’d listen to Griselda beats without bars on them on some jazz shyt.

Not sure I feel that way about Ross’ stuff in 2023. A lot of those beats sound like department store music.

Gunn’s beats have been hit or miss since like FlyGod is an awesome God 2. I do like a lot of his songs but I often wonder what a Griselda concert would be like. You can’t enjoy a lot of their stuff in a concert format IMO

He's up there when he's not trying to be too weird or unconventional
