its to late
we rly passed the point of no return so....
Never too late. Either by disease or war or natural disasters. Maybe a combination of thins we will lose a lot of people. Then humans will understand that just having kids for the sake of it isn't the wave anymore.

Not on this fukked up earth anyway. We are not making a better life for humans going forward. .we have left them a ticking time bomb

people keep going on about how we have to save the environment

the environment is fine - the earth has been here for hundreds of millions of years ...it will be just fine

the problem with global warming and food and housing isnt oil

the problem is too many " us ".

there are too many people that want to live "middle class "

That’s why his books leave you numb or whimpering in the corner. He’s probably the best sci-fi writer and futurist ever.
Yea that's why I had to put his shyt down. Had me depressed as fukk.

Not sure if many of you were up on it but some years back the show Utopia (the original one on BBC) delved into population control and a plan to deal with it.

:mjpls:The correct figure for the percentage of the earth's land mass which is actually occupied by humans is .03%.

this is some evil demonic shyt....the same mfs who destroyed the rainforest in Brazil. the same mfs who want to block out the sun, sterilize people without their consent. man fukk these demons.

get in tune these people engineering society is the reason so many are unhappy including the women they purport to be championing.

it's no wonder that 2 gay demons are behind the inception and proliferation of the whole abortion rights thing (not to be confused with allowing women to about for health or rape but the abortion as a contraceptive idea).

man ya'll nikkas getting thrown in a trick bag and don't even see it.

we don't have a resource problem we have a restrictive-market problem when gov't and interest groups such as the IMF are artificially controlling the standard of living and development of nations.

you have housing around the world more unaffordable than ever because a few hedge funds are gobbling up homes for higher prices than the market would dictate and yet no gov't does a thing to fix it.

you have countries like the Ukraine as central wheat producers while countries in africa are disallowed from producing and taking to market their own produce, wheat, grains etc. wake the fukk up. this fukker is likely part of their brain-trust.

Great post

I consider myself a "futurist". I use my estimating skills to understand where things are going.

This man has impressed me with his ability to "predict". Which is ultimately complex calculation.

I watched the first video, what in that interview did you consider an impressive future prediction?

The population math was just simple arithmetic, anyone can do that. He didn't even factor in any projections for how the growth rate may change over time. And it has been obvious for some time that the world doesn't contain the resources to support its population a US-standard lifestyle. That's not anything special, it was known in the 1960s, not to mention the 1980s. People just want to plug their fingers in their ears and keep supercharging capitalism anyway.

Besides that obvious fact, his analysis of the problems and solutions sounded a little bit naive. People don't have babies cause we celebrate Mother's Day lol. I wish he had done more research into the actual social and economic reasons for high birth rates and applied that rather than just using uninformed pop psychology reasoning.

He does the same thing a lot of scientists do - they know they're smart, and they know they know a lot about certain subjects, so they just assume they can speak with authority on other subjects outside their expertise that they haven't studied at all. From what I've heard, Asimov is a very bright dude, but that means little if you don't know the subject.

Also, as a kid reading the Foundation series in the 1990s, I was already :mjlol: when he had interstellar spacecraft switching from nuclear power back to fueling by oil again in like 25000 A.D., as if ANYONE would ever be using either of those as a fuel source by the time we get to interstellar travel.

I liked his prediction of the population and his analysis of the whole thing. Population growth is slowing for the exact reason that women are more independent.

The part that got my attention is actually the second video (which I saw before the other one) where he said everyone would have their own TV channel.

Like I said, his prediction of population was just extrapolation and it wasn't even nuanced.

The thing about women was the closest thing to being right and even then he was off-base. Everyone knows that increasing women's rights and opportunity decreases childbirth rates, but the main impact isn't because it "distracts" them from childbirth. It's because women who are uneducated and have no rights are forced by their husbands to stay home, do housework, fukk, and make babies. There's a direct correlation between women's literacy, education, and access to health care that decreases childbirth rates even if they don't have a career, merely because they have more authority to stand up to their husbands. The places with out-of-control population growth are generally those places where women's rights lag.

Basically, everything in the video he said that was true was already obvious to informed people in the subject, and everything he said that was new was wrong.
