Can anyone clowning me refute what I said? Again I never said he was the best or anywhere near that. There are tons of better offensive players than Joe Johnson
But I think it's a legitimate debate that he's up there with being one of the most complete offensive players ever. There wasn't a single thing offensively that he couldn't do effectively. He had a post game, floaters, could shoot the three and midrange effectively and from anywhere on the court. Had a good first step, could operate out of the triple threat, jab step, step backs, ect. His handles were nice and his crossover wasn't bad either, just ask Paul Pierce. Excellent free throw shooter as well
People talk about Melo being the best one on one player but I think it's Joe Johnson. He's named Iso Joe for a reason, but he didn't have to have the ball in his hands all the time to be effective either. He could play off ball, curl off screens to catch and shoot or be a spot up threat. One of his most productive years was being that in Phoenix
Joe's problem was that he never had the desire to be as great as he could be like a Kobe or even McGrady, but as far as his offensive game goes he had no weaknesses
Because he was a hawk and net and not a spur or bull I think folks will unnecessarily hate but I have to agree. He could shoot 48% from 3 one of the best seasons ever outside of curry..he could dribble you to sleep and pull floaters all day. Midrange leaning any direction seemed to be his specialty
people big up Brandon Roy as a complete player but Joe was the prime version of that. And at a legit 6'8 few people have ever had that a ability outside of superstars.
Melo may have had more effectiveness offensively but at his peak Joe was a notch below while being MUCH better distributer and defender.
