This recent spat is confusing, in terms of escalation.
I understand the anger at Israel for the evictions and such.
But the rocket launching...
So Hamas shot first. Failed. Iron Dome intercepted.
Then Israel retaliated and ended up killing 20, including 9 children.
If it’s confirmed Israel was targeting the origin of the rockets, in other words a military target then I’m slightly more sympathetic regarding this overall situation.
Hamas have a habit of using civilians as shields.
The Palestinian people need to get rid of Hamas.
Israel needs to get rid of Netanyahu and other far-right Israelis.
It's not confusing at all. People are fed up with the forced expulsions and the building of more illegal settlements. By international law, they are illegal, but no one is holding Israel accountable.
Listen to the man leading the charge in Sheikh Jarrah - Yonatan Yosef.
This round of rocket launching only started *after* this all happened:
They use the same "we were targeting terror tunnels" excuse for all of their indiscriminate bombings. It's their policy. And it's bullshyt.
Their pretense for storming Al-Aqsa? They claimed that they were storing weapons inside. They lie so blatantly and people accept it without question. It doesn't help that the larger media is helping to shape this narrative. It is crazy to me how this is all being framed by media from across the world to remove all blame/responsibility from Israel. And how world leaders only choose to say anything *after* rockets start flying and never before. And never about what caused this to happen.
When Israeli police stormed Al-Aqsa, people were on their knees praying, and were bombarded with tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets. Little to no reporting on that. Nothing from any world leader or politician. You get the usual cries about Israel having the right to defend itself *after* a rocket attack, but apparently Palestinians don't. You can't even protest an illegal eviction.
