Israel is probably going to bomb Turkey; Will NATO Article 5 be invoked by Erdogan if happens?

Will Israel strike Turkiye?

There isn't any scenario under which NATO defends one of its members if the genocidal state attacks them. Not one. Most (far) right-wingers would actually probably applaud it, depending on where it strikes/who it kills.

And the question isn't why would they attack Turkiye, but why wouldn't they? It's a majority muslim country and a key player in the region, and they know they will get away with it. Who really is gonna retaliate? The US? France? The UK? Lol.

I agree, except it's not just the "far right" that will applaud it. Basically every Republican voter will applaud it (although, to be fair, "Republican" and "far-right" basically means the same thing these days).

you're running with a LOT in these statements and you know it man lol

every country that can is in a rush to carve steaks out of a destabilized syria - and a destabilzed syria is literally everyone's problem at the same time because that is exactly the kind of country that doesn't need a prolonged power vacuum the way Libya has. if anything people need to get used to foreign wars that do NOT have a large scale US occupation to make things oversimplified going forward.

and turkey is hardly some unilaterally supportive institution within NATO too. when the ukraine war kicked off and other countries tried to join NATO, remember how and why Turkey provided friction during their application process too :unimpressed: lets not act like turkey hasn't taken the exact same saber rattling stance with countries harboring enemies of their state as well

I’m not denying the power vacuum in Syria :russ: but are you telling me the Turks aren’t the most well positioned?

Syria is fragmented but to be honest, I’m impressed with how Sharaa has moved ahead to attempt to unify the country and rebuild institutions. :yeshrug: I wish Somali politicians were moving that way

Oh and the Turks own moves in NATO and threatening to unleash migrants is one of many reasons why they wouldn’t get everyone on board with Article 5.

Yeah I meant it as being both, if there is any distinction left.

NATO defending Turkey against Israel would seem like a fever dream a decade ago, no? Crazy times we're living in

they are not. because they *want* bigger fish to fry

and 'syria' is like.... the capital and the immediate area surrounding it. its the wild west from one border to the next

turkey has also weaponized migrants powder kegs in the past. most notably against greece. im just not treating these things like jumpscares as if we don't know exactly how power is projected out there now

Israel attacking would be the perfect excuse for Trump to pull out of NATO or violate article 5. I hoped I would be dead when the American empire collapsed, but I'm starting to think I'll have a front row seat.

If Congress doesn't remove him, Vance and Johnson for blowing up 80 years of peace then whatever happens happens.

meanwhile in the real world I believe Poland just triggered article 4

What is your perspective on the increasingly rogue and lawless state that Israel has been and is continuing to transform in to? They are arguably on par with Russia as a destabilizing force on the world stage right now.

Turkey has an army and is allied with both US , Russia and Europe.
Israel won't dare. And if they do they will discover a nation who fukkng react as violently as they are attacked.
