I see that. I would not have been waiting on Hollywood to get my next project off the ground. I would have hit the TV circuit and built my resume. I think I remember when that showrunner deal was happening. To me Issa is a behind the scenes type anyway, some people don't need to be in front of the camera.

I wanted to put myself out there as a ghostwriter, but I don't go out and network and most of my projects are unfinished. I might spend next year finishing all my projects and hitting the pavement in 2027. I kinda want to write a novel before February, I been working on a concept.

I just don’t think she has “it” just like Lena Dunham except Lena has money and white skin and associated benefit of the doubt.

Issa isn’t a comedian like Kevin Hart and nowhere near Shonda so she can either beef up her acting (which won’t work) or cook up with a writing partner and her ego won’t let her do that.

After insecure she should’ve tucked herself up under Spike or John Singleton and asked them for directing gigs since both had projects going on at the same time. But could you see her asking a couple of older brehs for jobs?

Of course not. But directing 2 or 3 episodes of Snowfall would’ve gotten her around a cast with people who would’ve been open to helping her out on a new project.

And it wasn't 15 years ago... The show went off in 2021. So in 2025 for her to have NO projects is crazy. Especially when a lot of black women got their whole style from her. You think Abbott Elementary gets made if Insecure never popped off?

Actors and agents literally fight over placement and for a producer to get top billing like that it's because they feel it helps sell the movie. She literally didn't write or direct it but she is on the poster because she's a name to the targeted audience, and they hope the audience doesnt notice it says "from producer" in small print and just sees the name.
