Elections have consequences. They got rid of DEI so dang fast…. Were people seriously not even enough to think that these white executives liked their work that much? Or wanted to throw endless sums of money at things that they neither identified with nor truly understood nor appreciated themselves personally?

The entitlement of some black entertainers just astounded me sometimes. Either be great or be gone.

Your associate picked the worst possible time to jump into Hollywood:mjlol:  during the pandemic?

Regardless Hollywood is done. Aside from a death of creativity the system itself has gotten too expensive to sustain. Nikkas shooting any and everywhere now:mjlol:

Don't know how this will affect future aspiring writers but there were to many bad writers leeching for too long

I don’t know why he did it but it’s been rough for him

I get that a little bit of delusion is needed in any venture you go hard with but everything isn’t for everyone and people convince themselves that they can do anything, even the things they just aren’t qualified for.

A ton of people like that here in NYC.

Larry Ellison buying up all the Studios, only very specific voices are going to be pushed frpm this point on. Warner Bros didn't even want to back Sinners, Coogler had to put up some of his own money which is rare for a big studio film.
Right. They have Bari Weiss a whole network and Issa can’t get rewarded for proving her value across multiple ventures. Read the room. You were never at the table.

Cold game. 🥶

It's very interesting how people get on and don't collab with other black creatives to buy up or build a studio to produce their own shows and projects. Instead they get to a certain level and talk about how they feel stagnant.

Why is it possible that people with less money than Issa are able to put movies out on Tubi (regardless of quality), but she can't put shows and movies on there or have her own platform in collaboration with other black writers, directors and producers?

I don't wanna hear any complaints from people in this position. Tubi is available, youtube is available, you're in a position of power. You have no excuses.

What positive representation of heterosexual black males has Issa Rae put out via her content?
You don’t think Lawrence was a positive black male character? They both had flaws in the beginning, but he leveled up, got a great career going, took responsibility for his seed, and MARRIED a black woman all in 5 seasons.

I’m black so half of your critique of me already fails on that front. Secondly entertainment doesn’t owe anyone anything. We have to stop acting like this is some civil rights issue that we all need to die in the Hill of. She has a camera and a YouTube account go get it cracking and come back.
No where did I say she was owed…I simply stated the crux of her statement “she doesn’t feel successful without something currently on” where does that say she’s owed?

Like I said, shut up

The main thing is

Do she have that right white/jewish connection that controls the studio’s?

If she have other black people telling her to get out the game or try to pivot, that mean a whole lot of these black directors/ actors are done for

Unless u are a Antoine Fuqua, Peele, Coogler who are cemented and if u been in the game and Hollywood knows u can still get non black consumers to see you like denzel, Will, Samuel L, Michael B and a few others

But the rest better get their tyler perry directing shoes on

It's definitely ironic in Issa's case given that her YouTube is what got her discovered in the first place
