Issa Rae says she doesn’t feels successful right now. Did the industry switch up on black content?

It's very interesting how people get on and don't collab with other black creatives to buy up or build a studio to produce their own shows and projects. Instead they get to a certain level and talk about how they feel stagnant.

Why is it possible that people with less money than Issa are able to put movies out on Tubi (regardless of quality), but she can't put shows and movies on there or have her own platform in collaboration with other black writers, directors and producers?

I don't wanna hear any complaints from people in this position. Tubi is available, youtube is available, you're in a position of power. You have no excuses.
Issa does work with a lot of other black creatives. She always has a ton of black writers and directors, just because they aren’t household names that would catch your eye doesn’t mean she’s not doing the work. And she’s working on a new show with the Gus from Southside (who also got their show cancelled by Max when Warner bought it)

The right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way
Honestly, the best thing about Kamala losing is that at least black media can no longer do low brow content like this. Unfortunately, the struggle of the Trump administration will force people to actually put more effort into making things that are interesting and challenge viewers outside of NGO and nonprofit funded Niche humanities major content slop
They genuinely thought the well would never run dry :mjlol:

Creativity goes a long way. Jordan Peele got a 2nd career basically because he did something nobody else was doing at the time. Everything I see now is somebody trying to do slapstick c00nery like Tyler Perry or peddle lgbt smut like that fakkit Lena Waithe
Jordan Peele is one of the most closely connected black people to Israel in the whole industry. No doubt he's talented but without his connection to Israel he WOULD NOT be getting these movies to the theater.

You all read way too much into what she said…

She’s a typical Type-A overachiever who is never satisfied with her current position.

Issa aspires for more and the current media landscape is challenging.
This bro, got damn. nikkas came in with they pitch forks ready lol.

Why doesn't she work with Tyler Perry?

It's definitely ironic in Issa's case given that her YouTube is what got her discovered in the first place
I mean nobody wants to go backwards if they don't have to. HBO to Youtube is definitely going backwards

Same thing for TVOne or Bounce. Folks see the HBO, Netflix, FX, Apple as being more "legitimate." Can't say I'm not the same, I barely check for STARZ shows lol

If she wants to be black focused, she needs to go to Black platforms. If she wants to make it big time, then she needs to expand her reach and her audience. You can’t do both at least not right now.

That's fine but like we've already discussed in here a lot of people are stuck in the old way of doing things. The smart actors over the last decade have diversified

You would get :scust: looks if you were an A lister and ended up on a TV show. Then those A list opportunities dried up and Netflix/Hulu wasn't sounding like such a bad option. And some good work came out of those pivots

People forget that entertainment is not a vital or essential component of a basic functioning society but merely one rich and decadent enough to sustain it. That we have so much entertainment is a privilege.

It means this god forsaken country is lucky to have black people. As we are essentially the entertainment in this country. Which is why it is VERY vital for black people and our spiritual well being. It just happens to not be conduscive/constructive when you live in this artificial zoo created by the European:respect:

In this thread

- Issa is too black
- insecure wasn’t that good
- Issa Rae is on the same fame level as amara la negra
- she ain’t really that talented

Mind you not once did she say she was broke or actually struggling, she’s actually been credited for projects this year.
:wow:
She’s been complaining for a while…peep the dates:
