There is money for black shows on mainstream platforms, however there isn’t a blank check, so there will be fewer shows than the 10’s just like the 10’s were far fewer shows than the 90’s and early 00’s

Shows ratings on Rotten Tomatoes... 100%, 98%, 94%, 95%, 100% over 5 seasons.... Metacritic scores 84, 90, 84, 80, 80... Let's not count hundreds of award nominations and a few wins

Also, unsuccessful shows that critics also hate, don't get 5 fukking seasons on HBO.. The Wire had to beg for 5 and that was/is considered a top tv show of all time universally. They get A list actors in series that last a season or two

And it wasn't 15 years ago... The show went off in 2021. So in 2025 for her to have NO projects is crazy. Especially when a lot of black women got their whole style from her. You think Abbott Elementary gets made if Insecure never popped off?



And all she said was "Yes I'm successful if you compare me to most... but IN MY EYES, I'm not successful until I have another writer/producer type shyt going on!"

Success is all relative. Denzel broke out with the movie Glory(1984). That’s more success than 90 percent of actors. But he kept working.

I think Issa got a hit show and was like “ I’m good now”.

People watch those channels for reruns of classic black sitcoms. Folks can barely keep up with all the new shows from the big dog streamers. An original show can build an audience through word of mouth but the writing better be on POINT because the budget won't be that high off the rip.
