At least for some…that was the era of Lena Waithe, Donald Glover, Jordan Peele, Rryan Coogler, etc. And projects like Dear White People, Lovecraft Country, Chewing Gum, She Got To Have It, basically every “new black” show/movie lol. After the writers strike, the anti woke movement, and AI. A lot of wells are running dry if you can’t adapt.

Yet somehow Tyler Perry has been and is still eating through all of this. Looks like bruh playing the long game with what he was putting out there was the right move.

At the same time i think a lot of these actors/actresses who made it onto the big screen, feel like they shouldn’t have to go the independent route and should stay in those Hollywood big name circles and be able to have warner brothers/ HBO/Starz/ etc etc backing

I never been around the crowd and speaking from afar, but Hollywood right now with all these streaming platforms doesn’t want to allocate money into the same type of black films or shows
