Nah..we saw the footage. Bret wanted to stay and take the lesser deal. Then he told Bret to kick rocks and go to WCW...and fukked him over an agreed finish. Lol. Vince waa paranoid and spat on a guy who was with him since WM 2.

Blame Medusa for that

Vince refers to Austin as "the biggest WWE superstar of all-time"

Y'all dont realize that without Austin, the company goes under....thus Rock never exists. Rock needed time to develop his character and to build up to facing Austin.

Hogan didnt' save the WWF and neither did Rock. Austin changed wrestling in general with the swearing, the attitude etc. which bled over to WCW. And you think Goldberg would've rocked the same look as Austin if Austin didnt exist? It's possible, but nah...

The exact quote from Vince on OTR back in 2001ish is "without question the most popular performer we've ever had" :wow:

He would say anything to not give anything WCW connected credit. I don't think anyone would buy Austin blowing away Hogan in popularity. Vince flips every other year on calling Austin or Rock the biggest star ever. He was dead set on saying Austin for awhile after the Rock come back, he flipped on that..basicalky called Rock the biggest star ever at the Rock Birthday Raw in 2011 to end the show.

Rock and Austin won their first title the same year..so that's just a fan fiction thoughtline instead of reality. But Austin was selling crazy merch and was the top OF man in 98..as he should as Rock was just midcard hot heel.turning into the main event heel icon we all quote and revere these days.

He's not been eclipsed by Cena or Cripple H at all. Not even close. Cripple H isn't even as respected as Undertaker which means he's not in the same galaxy as Steve Austin...and when he does get some real leverage at the WWE board, there is no fukking way he will ever do what Vince has done for the industry. Vince is pathetic these days as a 70 year old chump who pushes his Cena/Reigns agenda but 20 years ago, he was on fire with his creative juices when it was time to get shyt cracking against WCW to stay afloat. Cripple H doesn't know how to market, deal with sponsors, or the like as McMahon can.

Who cares, in an industry where majority of guys even the biggest stars end up broke and in bad health, our goats from the attitude era have all left with health and finances intact, instead of arguing who is more successful, we should be celebrating that point.

Rock is the biggest action star in

HHH is about to take over the company

Austin has his b movies, podcast, country network show

HBK has his hunting show, trains the future of the business, kills his own food

Taker shows up 5 times a year and probably makes a couple of million

Our favorites from the attitude era actually made ît out and can just chill the rest of their lives instead of wrestling on Indy cards in bingo halls, that shyt should bee celebrated
