You have to get a SAG card for starters.

I've been trying to get mine for two years. But if you live in a big city where a lot of shows are filmed at like l.a. Atl. ny or Chicago you might fare better.

Now as far as making it big, .............idk  but just from looking at some these actor's bios (esp black actors) it seems like the most efficient avenue to get noticed is to audition for a big nationally renowned theater company (or a regional theater company) OR to audition for a reputable drama program at a university. A lot of agents scout for talent at these plays. And then taking a classes with renown teachers of course.

This is much better than just packing up to l.a. And going to a bunch of auditions.

But, a lot of it is luck and connections.

Aye don't sleep, theater actors can make God money too, especially after you get into Actor's Equity (like SAG but for stage actors).

There's a whole lot of broke/struggling actors compared to even living comfortably actors..

There's a area in Hollywood where u have like 2 or 3 struggling actors sharing the same place hoping to get a break..

In 2017, why even go to school for acting in America where everything is reality tv and cheaper for these networks..

Hell why hired screech and Lisa turtle where I can grab any coli member for pennies

Education through theater school and in order to get roles u better have the right connections or some talent scout discover you here in cali

I know people who are still waiters or working retail gigs here in L.A. and this is like the last 5 to 10 years still trying out for auditions even if it is a small role of just walking across the street saying hi..

shyt is sad when u go to school for acting and ratchet fukks like love and hip hop get on tv

Yeah, they're better off using their talent to create a web series on YouTube or their own website and get $$$$ off the ad revenue if possible. But with YouTube on that bs who knows :francis:

Oh yeah no doubt. I actually prefer the stage.

Iirc Samuel l Jackson was making decent money doing theater before he got his break in Hollywood

The best actors in Hollywood almost always come from a stage background.

People are better off becoming writers, with all the reality tv shows, it's basically ladies show your cleavage, always be around each other but somehow hate each other, even go on vacation together. Throw a party, be in a bad relationship, have mom issues. Fight at the season finale reunion show.

Eddie griffin did an interview with Vlad and said he was getting $800k a week while on the show, but said liked it less than standup because the executives would constantly undercut what he wanted to do on a comedic level.

How do people get into acting :patrice:. And like you know actually make it big :dame:

Honestly, if you're not attractive don't even try to be a "jack of all trades actor", get some roles that fit you perfectly and kill them and hope somebody in Hollywood likes you.

Folks fukk up tying to be Leo, when they should be trying to be Jonah Hill. As long as you fit a specific role and are the best or top few at filling it you'll find consistent work.

And if you're good enough become a character actor:manny:

But if you're NOT attractive or an average looking white man don't even try to stretch yourself too far so you're gonna break

TV shows only film for a few weeks out of the year. Some shoot for 6 to 8 weeks and 800 thousand a week is under 5 million dollars for a whole "season" or 6 weeks worth of shooting. That's not a lot for a popular TV show. They don't get paid every single week for the whole year.

Brah look at the list. You really think a damn Eddie Griffin was getting paid 800k per episode, all them years ago for that semi popular ass show. I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you homie.
