It was a bad location for a city since the French got the bright idea to develop a settlement out there.

The inevitable will happen sooner than later.
Lots of cities were developed in bad locations. Houston was built on a swamp and every year the city sinks and has epic end of the world flooding once a year.

ANd now that hurricane season is coming upon us its about that time H-Town geets flooded

Also, Mexico city was built over a lake and over top ruins. Its actively sinking.

Unfortunately New Orleans i believe will eventually flood out. Its a soup bowl 🥣

Both the Netherlands and New Orleans are vulnerable low-lying areas facing significant challenges from rising sea levels and increased storm intensity, but the Netherlands has a far more extensive and advanced flood defense system, with much of its land currently below sea level and designed to withstand storm surges of 10,000-year severity, whereas New Orleans' defenses are less extensive and designed for a 100-year storm, which proved inadequate during Hurricane Katrina.
