It should be mandatory for eveyone to work retail/customer service once in their life

It'd give people much more respect for those who work in such positions. From the time I Was 16, up all the way thru college I worked retail.

I was never a "bad customer"(ie come in and wildly rummage thru stuff), but even today years later, when I go to a clothing store, I don't destroy stuff and do my best to look thru folded stacks or a rack for my size without destroying stuff, and my friends I used to work with usually do the same thing as well. But I've seen customers come thru stores and behave like a digging dog trying to get to the bottom of a pile. Then just walk away.

That wouldn't happen, nor would ppl be disrespectful as much to retail ppl if they had to do the job themselves at least once.

if I hear about someone cussing out a cashier, I automatically assume the customer is an old white lady.

Work at a tourist destination selling food fukked me up something bad. I seriously have a disdain for the average customer because of all the petty shyt I witness. It's seriously why I could give a shyt when people complain to me about how "they" messed up their order. As if it's a conspiracy that the 16 year old black kid, old mexican lady Marie and the brother who just got home serving a bid are out to make your life miserable with a minor inconsistency.

When I think back on it I low key because the kids-teenagers at my job were for the most part pretty straight forward and behaved well then the damn adults.

The one way it changed me is, I don't really enjoy going to malls/stores & shopping now. Just like to get in and get out.

I remember having this same attitude when I was working retail.

But once I got an adult job I just don't care anymore. Of course, I'm not going to go intentionally out of my way to destroy things, but it's your job to clean up after me. If everyone was a perfectly neat customer they wouldn't have hired you. In a way, I'm keeping you employed by leaving shyt
