It'd give people much more respect for those who work in such positions. From the time I Was 16, up all the way thru college I worked retail.
I was never a "bad customer"(ie come in and wildly rummage thru stuff), but even today years later, when I go to a clothing store, I don't destroy stuff and do my best to look thru folded stacks or a rack for my size without destroying stuff, and my friends I used to work with usually do the same thing as well. But I've seen customers come thru stores and behave like a digging dog trying to get to the bottom of a pile.
Then just walk away.
That wouldn't happen, nor would ppl be disrespectful as much to retail ppl if they had to do the job themselves at least once.

because the kids-teenagers at my job were for the most part pretty straight forward and behaved well then the damn adults.
