I've always thought the same thing. Like, when I was a kid, for a few years I thought Magic was his actual name. It even sounds weird calling him Earvin Johnson.
I knew this sh*t was crazy when back in the day as a kid I rented Tecmo NBA Basketball on the NES and his fukking name in the game was Magic Johnson. Its not like the game was marketed around him, the developers just called him the same sh*t everyone does.
